I cant read through all the previews posts so just ignore me if i say something that has already been said before:

Here is a video of someone who compiled the source engine and put his own textures in it.

After many rumors, its true there is a playable version of Half-Life 2 surfing over the net. Someone on ourmirc channel contacted me and send me over his own made video capture. This isnt the cube map, which is normally playable but a fan-created map named qazw. The video can be found here: http://www.halflife-2.nl/hl2leak/hl2leak.WMV

yeah #halflife2 on efnet is advertising the download for the compiled source. Also there are several channels on efnet that have successfully setup multiplayer servers and played as chickens.. no weapons or sounds but you can see the enitities jumping all over the room lol.. laggy as hell though.

I know it's not the actual half-life2 background, but it's a real picture of the source engine in action.

Also I think alot of people here are trying to play this down or are just being very skepticle, but contary to what rec's news post says, it goes further than a cube map. I don't mind it being played down, it's proberly a good thing but be aware that the source code that was leaked is fully functional and that there are quite a few cleaver people getting it to work, it's not half-life2 thats been leaked it's the source engine and it doesn't need content made by valve to run.

Well, I think Valve will now rewrite his complete networking code to avoid programming best cheats for it. But such commercial companies will never understand what OpenSource is really like...

They don't need to rewrite all of it, only the bits that are actually usefull to hackers or cheaters, or more likely they will add protection to those bits which are vunerable, instead of finding a different way to code them.

I think this is possibly, no definately the longest thread i have ever seen, I know different forums have different posts per page counts but the closest to this that i have seen is 70 pages.

Of course there are a good ten pages in this of "wow look how long this is " posts, includeing this one.

i wonder if there is a 'guiness book of records' record for the longest post. Also, the most post per minute, cause i remember with the 'Gabe on HLradio' thread, it was doing a new page per min, so 10 post per min, but mainly it was, Gabe is on HL radio in 40 min, now 39 min and so on.
