HL2 + Steam

Well, just wondering, will i have to have steam to be able to play HL2. Im asking this because i just started university and well steam cant get past the firewall, ie if i do need steam to play it i wont be able to play it! :angry:

Unfortunately, you have to register with steam before hl2 will be playable after installation.

fs, been waiting a year and a 1/2 for a game and im not even goign to be able to play it, how ****ing gay.

just get a free aol cd and use that. AFAIK its only a 1-time deal.

This is old but i heard that VU or Valve was going to release a no internet needed version of HL2 and it would just have the SP game

you can't use the T1, you said they blocked the ports.

So dial-in to the internet with aol, run steam, get hl2 working, disconnect, make sure hl2 is working, uninstall aol, cancel account.

Advising anyone to use AOL is very irresponsible. I wouldn't even recommend this to an enemy

Unless things have changed, they said that you'd be able to play single player without logging in to steam.

However, you will be unable to play internet multiplayer. (This part should be fairly obvious.)

Most dorms use digital phone lines. Modem no worky.
