HL2 uninstalled

Unfortunately due to some rare bug I have yet to isolate, the only solution has been to uninstall HL2. For some reason, while it's installed and played, all my other games perform very poorly, like on low settings they get 1fps while I used to play them on high settings. Reinstalling the other games fixed the issue until I played HL2 again. When I uninstalled HL2, the issue went away. I don't know what's wrong with HL2 and why it does this, but put that on top of the steam bloatware and you have a product that I am not going to keep installed. Maybe when my second rig arrives I'll try again, but for now I'm going to have to quit. And I never even got to beat hl2.

I agree. I tried just about everything I could think of before uninstalling. I'm afraid the process I've gone through to fix my other games is too much to reinstall to see if it was just a bad installation. In all my time, I've only encountered one other completely unexplainable bug. And that was years ago with Earthsiege 2.
