Okay... I don't think that this has been done *exactly* like this before, so here goes:

Which weapons from HL1 (and expansions) do you wish to see return in HL2? For me: All alien weapons (Snarks, Spore Launcher(cute), Hive Hand, Shock Roach, Barnacle). Ooh, and the Gauss and Gluon guns! They rocked.

I thought the teleporter gun was pretty naff, personally.

Personaly I think the crossbow was the greatest weapon

The ability to snipe with such accuracy with such an unconventional weapon made it realy cool!

Thanks. I forgot that one! The crossbow was the neatest of the human projectile weapons. But I never could figure out if it was supposed to be explosive-tipped, tranquiliser, or just normal solid metal.
 
I think one of the characters mentioned that it was tranquiliser.
 
Ahh. Me too, now I come to think of it. Still, it wouldn't be very reassuring to know it's a trank if it's currently poking out the back of your head. Must've been intended for use on gargs and icthies.:E
 
I hope they bring back the Snarks.

I love the little buggers :D
 
I hope the crossbow comes back, I think it will, but why would they have such old technology at a secret underground bunker?
 
yeah some scientist tells you there is a tranq gun on a cage in water wiht those water shark thingies (itchsaurs i think) so you jump and get it
the proceed to kill them with crowbar unless your wussy ;)
 
Like jonbob said, they were using it to tranquilise specimens, that's why they had it in the bunker.

I was wondering whether they would have a sniper rifle in the game the other day, but since the MP-7 can zoom in, maybe a rifle has been left out.
 
Yes the Hive gun was one of my favorites esp. in MP.
Snark Snark esp. MP

I guess I really only liked the "weird" ones in MP.

and the teleporter is great but they said gordon wont go to xen :/
 
i think the crowbar and the gauss gun (tao cannon in op force) would be the most worthwhile carryovers, mostly because of gauss jumping.

I would like to see the railgun, magnum and xbow return in HL2.
I do hope there are some spinky new weapons.
 
Crossbow, but i hope they have some new weapons that will entangle us into the game!
 
I forgot to add that if there's one weapon I'd like to see return, it would be the .357 Magnum. Just without the zoom-in laser from multiplayer.
 
.357 Magnum owned in that game. You could get through the whole game with just that and the hornet gun if you tried hard enough.

The Gluon Gun if I remember correctly. I would like to see that make a return too. And of course the Snarks.
 
The backpack weapon is the Gluon Gun (but like the Gauss gun, i think it has been referred to by two names).

BTW, does anyone know how it was supposed to work? I remember something about atomic destabilisation, I think.
 
Snarks and the second pistol thing in Opposing Force. The one with the laser as alt-fire.

I will miss the snarks. ;(

the gluon gun, as the name tell, remove the gluons that stick the atoms together ^^

the crossbow would be EVEN BETTER with hl2 physics, we could pin headcrabs to the walls :D

Hmm the crossbow was a tranguliser gus yes and I understand ur confusion about the explosive tip, cuz in singleplayer it was a tranguilisergun but in Multi it would bang on impact. I really liked all of the weapons cuz it depended on the situation. But my favourite ones would be the magnum and the gauss, other weapons I would like is a colt and a OICW man thats sw33t.
 
i think the best guns are already in hl2, the rpg which is now has an improved aiming thing and the shotgun and crowbar :)
 
but we wouldn't know anything about guns currenlty in hl2 now would we...

u are talking about the Desert Eagle or Deagle as some pple refer to it.. very dangerous weapon up close :)

i was playing through SP of HL1 (until i upgraded to Win XP, now the saves don't work for me and i have completed 3/4's of the game too :( ) and really.. there isn't gun in there that i don't like..

best scenerio would be that all HL1 guns returned in some form.. i mean Valve are continuing the story right? its not like a whole new story.. yes, i realize HL2 is 10-15 years after HL1 but its still believable that at least some of the HL1 guns would still be in use..

i love all the guns.. but the ones that stood for me were the Gluon gun, Crossbow, and the Spore launcher ;)

the snarks get a honorable mention.. cute lil things that pack a bit!! :dork:
 
Shotgun all the way. By far the most satisfying weapon in MP along side the crowbar.
 
Guys, an n00b question.The HL2 directX benchmark thingie works only on dx9 cards or does it run on dx8 also?

what are you talking about? ther is no benchmark other then what some pro sites recived. ther is "pre-alpha beta thingy" and that works on everything, but you get best results with dx9. HL2 is meant for dx9.

I know snarks are cool, and it wouldn't be bad if
they were brought back, but are ant lions just not bad@ss enought for all you guys?
 
The gluon gun was also known as the egon gun, I'm guessing cause in ghostbusters they had the same guns, designed by Egon himself. "Don't cross the streams. Why not? It would be bad"
