Ugh, I just got back from a 25 minute session of Counter Strike and sadly, it's still the same (community wise). Nothing but immature, arrogant, egotistical pricks playing a game. I was called a noob no less than 12 times - I shit you not. 'Your mom' was counted 3 times. This was on 3 different servers. I won't even get started on the cheating...

Geez, who the hell can stand that crap? Anyway, I was just reminded why I quit around 1.0 and why I don't bother playing it anymore. I can't help but remember what the early betas (1 and 2) were like when CS was fresh, the community wasn't a bunch of preteen acting assholes, and the gameplay was interesting.

I said they were acting immature, or not as mature as they sort of should be. I'm not saying all preteens or 13-ish kids act like know-it-all, invulnerable, little pricks - just most of them. Give a kid the anonymous nature of the internet with no supervision and you get the typical attitude of a CS player. Or do you disagree that most CS players don't act like that?

well said Ares; good thing Valve killed cs completely at 1.6 though, it's gotta be the worst version since jumping got crippled june last year, but mostly Steam's fault imo; what they need to do is listen to the fans, not add a bunch of worthless features, etc, like a damn galil/huge text/riot shield; instead, fix the [CENSORED] BUGS!!!!!

that's what I was going to say... many, many people don't use the chat and it's sometimes hard to judge them with some polys running around the screen; but usually you can tell, just use the spectate mode or taunt them at the start of the round

I can't speak for the servers you were in, but generally when I pub less than half the players are acting immature (yeah that's still a problem with 50%, but...). You just have to get used to ignoring or muting the idiots. There are still a lot of players who are good-natured and kind. As for cheating, I have honestly not seen a cheater for months (I can't even remember my last encounter with one). I don't know how you are skill-wise, but I know for a fact at least 99% of cheating accusations are incorrect. I see so many legit players accused, so often, it's just sad.
I know it's easy to stereotype CS players as 8-year-old, immature, whiny idiots - because, unfortunately, many are - but please don't assume that the whole community is that way. There are still plenty of nice players out there if you take the time to look.

I've found that as long as I'm respectful of others (i.e. no serious trash talking) then most of the games are enjoyable. When someone tears me a new asshole, then I tell him that he di a good job. This may seem gay to some of you 1337 d00dz, but I've found that people respond very well to it most of the time.

As for cheating, I haven't encountered that in CS for quite a while. But I've found that in TFC, if I play for a 2-3 hour period I will usually run across someone who is cheating. My favorite class is sniper, and there have been times where I get multiple head shots on someone and they still don't die. Usually when I call the person on it they leave the server. I'm not sure why there is this much of a difference between the two games, but it bothers me because TFC is my favorite online game ever (with SWG being second).
