HOLY CRAP..... I think I may know what the GMan is...

Sorry, I meant maybe we won't find out more about him.

I won't edit that post so that this one makes sense.

I'll deal with Darkside's invasion when I'm finished my homework.

this is a nice theory but there is one massive flaw that suprisingly no one has considered: EMPLOYERS! none of you have considered this: the gman can not be an advisor manipulating people and doing all his crazy stuff for his own ends because he always goes on about how he does it all for his EMPLOYERS.

maybe gman is just god.. any one ever think of that.. so stupid it just might work! o_O

I have considered this many times.

I can't believe I'm actually going to say something proper about the Gman, but did anyone else notice in the first scene with him in Ep2 he seemed to have developed a slight West Country accent? I thought he sounded slightly Devon-ish or Somerset-ish when he spoke!

No i cant say i noticed that.*Puts Ep 2 on*

Not that I want to burst your bubble, but I recall Valve saying they don't know the storyline or anything for Episode Three (this was a few months ago) so everyone's theory is just pointless and silly.

Yes, because until Valve know the plot of Episode 3 they have no idea who or what the G-man is. They are awaiting further visions to reveal the truth of it all to them so that they can pass it on to us, their faithful followers!

wow... no offense that is the dumbest g-man theory ive ever heard hahahahahahahaa! he's an advisor?! that makes absolutely no sense. the g-man is according to the Half-Life 2 Episode 1 "Story so far" site is a "sinister inter-dimensional bureaucrat"

http://ep1.half-life2.com/story.php

thats why he's always talking about his employers and having to abide by restrictions and not being at liberty to discuss certain subjects.

another thing the g-man did not tell you to kill the nihilanth but rather was just impressed that you were able to and thats why he hired you

finally why the hell would the g-man want to kill eli? eli was his pawn even before you were... he gave him the freakin crytal! you, eli, and alyx (maybe more that we are unaware of) are all his pawns... i would think that he would dislike the idea of eli being killed as we was still communicating with him (albeit through alyx) right up until the day he died

For the love of Shiva, why was this thread necroed?

And just to say that Gman... is the brother of Adolf Hitler...

I think the reason the G-Man exists is because he provides extremely interesting/confusing plot twists and is there to maintain an aura of mystery.

I think you pretty much nailed it. Also, I feel myself really leaning towards NOLGTA's view on this subject: GMan theories almost always turn sour. But I don't want the freedom to delve into his character and purpose to be entirely restricted, so I'll stay as a quasi-supporter. So, if my say has any weight (which it doesn't) I say let's have the thread continue on a bit until things get utterly out of hand.
