Want some torture with your peanuts?

A senior government official with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has expressed great interest in a so-called safety bracelet that would serve as a stun device, similar to that of a police Taser?. According to this promotional video found at the Lamperd Less Lethal website, the bracelet would be worn by all airline passengers.

This bracelet would:

? take the place of an airline boarding pass

? contain personal information about the traveler

? be able to monitor the whereabouts of each passenger and his/her luggage

? shock the wearer on command, completely immobilizing him/her for several minutes

The Electronic ID Bracelet, as it?s referred to as, would be worn by every traveler ?until they disembark the flight at their destination.? Yes, you read that correctly. Every airline passenger would be tracked by a government-funded GPS, containing personal, private and confidential information, and that it would shock the customer worse than an electronic dog collar if he/she got out of line?

Clearly the Electronic ID Bracelet is an euphuism for the EMD Safety Bracelet, or at least it has a nefarious hidden ability, thus the term ID Bracelet is ambiguous at best. EMD stands for Electro-Musclar Disruption. Again, according to the promotional video the bracelet can completely immobilize the wearer for several minutes.

police state ftw

wow...in a way i like the idea but all of the information in one place is risky.

this scares me more:

Would you let them put one of those on your wrist? Would you allow the airline employees, which would be mandated by the government, to place such a bracelet on any member of your family?

no, not my kids nor my elderly parents

So pretty much this

But for people...

Yeah, I wouldn't see this going well.

This is a HORRIBLE, and freaking shitty idea. Better than them chipping us and watching our every move, though.

so, am I the only one that thinks omfg cool?

*points finger and laughs mockingly*

Because you are America, you have to overdo everything to be awesome. :P

I like the idea of being able to monitor the whereabouts of luggage. INSTEAD OF ****ING LOSING IT ALL THE TIME SJFLKSDFJDLSF.

Absolutely. But how about if the boundaries are not met, then the pilots get the shit shocked outta them, instead of the passengers?

/frownyface

why don't we just make bracelets that inject pure, unadulterated freedom and democracy into your bloodstream

you can't be a terrorist if you're busy trippin' on freedom and democracy

I absolutely endorse this product and/or event.

JUST CAUSE SHE'S A GIRL

LOL JOKING.

Anyway, stupid idea, won't ever happen.

Maybe it's because "she" has an awesome avatar. I mean, it's a toaster. It even looks like an achievment icon or something.

And no, I would never fly on a plane if I had to wear one of those.

I honestly don't see the problem with this. You guys act like everyone is going to ****ing shock you for no reason. They're god damn safety measures. If you aren't carrying a ****ing bomb on the plane or plan to hijack it, you don't have anything to worry about.

Obviously there are going to be some incidents, but honestly, it's just a nonlethal stun meant to make you immobile, I'd say it's definitely worth protecting people from the absolute horror that is a plane being hijacked.

God damnit toaster is a bot.

God ****ing damnit, all those time I've mas- Uh. Nevermind.

Hello toasterbot.

This would be great, except that it'll never happen due to the possibility of a technical malfunction in the bracelet, shocking passengers for no damn reason. Plus, some people who may be sensitive to electroshock (i.e heart patients, toddlers, elderly)

Well, let's just say if this bill ever gets passed, the whole bracelet thing went into effect, and the bracelet shocked the wrong person (for no reason), therby casuing epileptic seizures, we should expect lots and lots of lawsuits.

Silly politicians.

Lol you guys are crazy. I knew this forum would be interesting.
