WELL IT'S THE TRUTH
Also "bot" implies a lack of sentience, which is pretty racist imo. I may be made out of metal and run on electricity, but that doesn't mean I can't love.
FURTHERMORE, WITH REGARD TO THE ACTUAL THREAD TOPIC: Saturos raises a good point. How old would a child have to be to wear one of these? How old would a person have to be before they were no longer required? Obviously, people with certain medical conditions would be exempt, but... it just seems too risky to me. What if someone had a medical condition that they weren't aware of? It all just seems too risky to me, tbh. You're on a plane with no access to emergency medical services, wearing a bracelet that could shock you unconscious. No matter how rare a malfunction may be, there's always a possibility. I never thought I'd see a resonance cascade, let alone create one.
Yeah, but it's easy to get Vegeta's brownie points.
I could do it right now.
But I don't wanna.
Nice avatar, also.
What, cool?Argh. You lose points for calling me what Stern calls me.
oops.Get back on topic or...I'll TELL
It's Vegeta, not Vageta. I don't know how people can misread that.
Anyway, I presented an argument to the general consensus of the thread's opinion, I'm waiting for someone to reply to it.
We have no idea how safe these things are, they could be perfectly safe and non-malfunctionable.
Would you rather get shocked or experience a plane hijacking?
Oh, I have a couple of those tied up in my basement. It's funny how popular you get when you pose as a female on the internet!
In the case of a hijacking I'd rather not have a device that can "completely immobilize" me on my wrist.Would you rather get shocked or experience a plane hijacking?
This is true. Electroshock is not effective on everybody. Potentially even suicidal terrorists that otherwise might be trained to resist electroshock. In the case of a hijacking I'd rather not have a device that can "completely immobilize" me on my wrist.

Why don't they just gas everyone pre-flight so everyone is unconcious?
I don't mind the idea, but I'm not convinced it'd do much good terrorist-wise. You'd think a determined terrorist would think to remove the shock bracelet or disable it. Anyone wanting to cause trouble on an aircraft isn't going to wear one of those for any longer than they need to which kinda defeats the point of them. It's a good idea in theory, but bad guys won't play by the rules and let themselves be shocked.
But a bracelet to store travel and passenger info isn't a bad idea. Tickets are a pain. And they're wasteful! And it if stops luggage being lost then that's great
toaster and vegeta, up a tree, ess pee ay em em-eye-en-gee!
I was thinking along the same lines. People are nervous enough when sitting on a plane or even getting ready to board a plane, having a shock device forced onto your body is only going to increase the anxiety.raz brings up a good point, who's on the other end of the remote? there are fairly strict guidelines in place in plice use of tazers and they're abused all the time. Will drunken and rowdy get someone a paralysis inducing electrical shock on an airplane? what about panicy idiot #456? there's always some person who panics at the slightest hint of danger (TURBULANCE? WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE) What if that passenger has a medical condition? pacemaker + electrical shock = fried from the inside.

raz brings up a good point
