How beefy is your rig?

Yeah if you can see. Welding for living and studying? You're lucky if you don't come out with magnifying glasses. :bounce:

Good Luck though, you're doing a good job.
Called a welding helmet. ;) I'm only gonna have this welding job during the summer too and not during college.

Called a welding helmet. ;)

Its called a Welding ;)
Just don't be welding your wiener to helmet. Remember you cant operate heavy machinery when drunk or high on weed, your wiener may get in the way. :bounce:

Good Luck.

LMAO! Thanks for the advice and giving me luck. I'll be sure not to weld my "wiener" to my helmet. :naughty:

Built a new PC

I just built a new PC.

it's far from great, but it's leagues better than what I had.

3.33 GHZ 64 Bit Celeron CPU
Antec 500 watt PSU
DVD burner
Dual monitors: 19 inch samsung DynaFlat / Magnavox 19"
1024 MB 400 Mhz RAM

Creative MP3+ optical sound

I just got a couple new 3 speed Antec Fans

A64 3500+ Venice w/ XP 90

I've forgotten my mobo already. I'll check the box when I get home

I haven't done any benchies in so long, and I need to format BADLY. I think it's been nearly 2 years already since my last one :\

You Jealous?

Lol @ epenis

lol @ bottleneckage
I don't think that's a bottleneck. As you lower the res/af/aa, his FPS on some games might not go as high as other CPUs could take it but far from a bottleneck.

If he was stuck at the same FPS on his new GPU that his older GFU gave him because his CPU couldn't deliver more data to the newer GPU then it would be a bottleneck.

Beefy? Mine would be chicken.

I wouldn't recommend that power supply for a 8800 gts, in fact I wouldn't recommend that PSU at all. First of all, it's weak on the 12v rail, very weak. Then there are a lot of negative customer reviews on newegg. You want something with more sustained amperage. It'll crap out on you in no time, please buy something better.

I second that wholeheartedly.
Its the most obvious mistake people seem to be doing intentionally to save a $100.00, Why buy top of the line system with a crappy PSU? How do you expect system to run with a freaking Double-A battery?

MOBO/CPU/RAM/VIDEO

Well the psu might not be the best choice for the 8800gts, thanks for the tip I will consider it.

Well, this is as it stands, though I'm looking to upgrade to a quad-core and some DDR2-800 RAM soon

Intel P4 3.4 GHz
Asus P5AD2-E Premium
2GB Kingston DDR2-533
Sapphire X1900XT 512MB
OCZ Gamer XStream 700W PSU
And two WD hard drives in 200GB and 500GB

lol @ bottleneckage

Meh, I buy my parts with consideration to future purchases.

I mean, I don't really consider it MUCH of a bottleneck (especially taking Asus, the Almighty's, viewpoint into consideration), but I really don't mind bottlenecking my stuff now, when I know that in the near future it'll all even out :)

OH, and i'm running two PSU's atm.

A two year old TruePower 480 that's really aging, and a generic 350.

350 powers Mobo and Drives, and 480 powers video card and fans.

Works like a charm.

Nice system Brick.

What are you using to cool the C2D?

-MRG

Ok scratch the list I made. Remove the AT2 cooler and replace 4gb with 2gb.

The cooler I got is total shit for my x1950XT, giving temps of about 100?C (115?C for the voltage regulator), so I put the stock cooler back in place (works wonders). The extra ram I bought works flawlessly, except when I try to use more than 2 sticks at once. My mainboard can't cope with 4 dimms let alone overclock with it. I've been looking around on xtremesystems.org and it seems there's no mainboard out there that can run 4x 1gb and overclock my e6300 well.. damnit, wasted a bunch of money and a lot of effort (order failed two times etc..) and the last crash my pc had with 3 dimms (was trying it out) messed up my windows and it wouldn't boot anymore. I tried about EVERYTHING to fix windows again for a whole day, nothing worked so I made a backup in another comp and then reformatted. Works again.

I'm disappointed.

Anyone else with a Gigabyte 965P-DS3 notice how hot the chipsets get? It's bloody ridiculous that they don't come with a HS/fan combo like one of my older 939 Gigabyte boards. I know the memory controller is moved but damn I had to mod up the heat sinks to something bigger to keep the inside of my case cold.

2 intake fans, 1x large exhaust and the side window fan didn't help much either.

Pentium 4 3.00 Ghz
nVidia 6600
1GB RAM

And the case is made of four-inch thick BEEF. >_>

Fack... I overclocked my video card and updated the drivers, and my average FPS on Lost Coast went down to 85.37. Anyone else get a 5-15% drop in performance using the new 7.3 Catalyst drivers?

Looks like my rig ain't so beefeh ;(

Athlon 64 3200+
overclocked 7900GS
1gb DDR2 PC3200 ram
shit Gigabye mobo
480gb HDD (160 + 320)
nzxt case (<3) 420w psu

about to upgrade, though...
500w psu + nzxt duet case
athlon 64 x2 4800+
2gb DDR2 PC6400 RAM
same OC'd 7900GS

Core 2 Duo Ennui! Price cuts are here! You can use the saved money to get a new mobo! Exclamation point!

I just got $400 from tax refunds. If I get a 8800gt for my pc would it help a lot for games like crysis or would it be too much of a bottle neck with my cpu?

I posted my specs on the first page but ill quote em here again.

A64 3500+
2gb Pc3200
7800gt 256mb
300gb Seagate drive
80gb Something else drive
160 gb external maxtor
250 gb external western digital
