How do I get HL2 free when I bought an ATI card with a Dell?

After looking at this link (https://www.atihl2offer.com/halflife2Notify.asp?type=system), I saw that it said "Activation Key Code". I don't have one! I didn't get any coupon or whatever when I got my Dell Dimension 4600, but I qualified for getting HL2 free because I bought a system with ATI technology!

What the hell am I going to do? Do I send my receipt that I bought my Dell after the date? This is so confusing....

I have damned PROOF I bought a system with ATI techonlogy. If I send them a reciept or some proof, I will be denied?!?

your not the only one thats getting screwed. i got an x800pro which i heard some people got wtih a voucher for the game.... and im getting screwed over agian because doom3 comes free with the x800pro, which i also have to pay full price for.... 100 bucks of free stuff i should get, that im not.

I know that Dell NEVER sends any excess stuff when shipping a PC. I'm screwed because of Dell.

You're screwed because you failed to confirm how the offer was distributed. Dell never said they were sending you an HL2 voucher.

I bought a new PC with an ATI graphics card. According to the website, I am qualified for a free copy of HL2.

wrong.
the free HL2 offer is only with certain Ati products.. not "all" Ati products.
if u did not get a coupon with ur PC.. then its clear that the Ati hardware u got was part of those coupon promotions.

u should do ur homework before u purchase something :p

I did not buy my PC. My dad did. He did it as a surprise, because I wanted a PC upgrade for Christmas, and he decided to do it a bit early. The ATI 9800 PRO is the only ATI card for the Dimension 4600. I remember seeing the "Free HL2" signs on all of the ATI graphics cards in Best Buy, but that was last year.

As far as I know, you only get the HL2 coupons with retail packaged versions of certain ATI cards. The 9800 Pro was included in that promotion, but only if you bought the card by itself, not built into a system.

ahh.. in that case thats just bad luck man.
as far as i can remember the HL2 coupon was only included with the XT and the X300-600-800 series cards.

anyway thats my understanding.. never seen or heard of the HL2 coupon being included with the Pro series of cards.

This offer does not apply to bulk OEM (White box) versions of the foregoing products, unless a Half Life 2 Activiation Key Coupon was included with the product

You should always read the fine print. Unless the PC documentation said it comes with HL2, why should you assume it will?

I looked at the "Send Half-Life 2 to me" section, and under Product it said "Other." That could mean MY card.

EDIT:

I did not get an OEM version! It came with my new PC! I'm still qualified because I bought a new PC with ATI Technology.

I'm going to ask my dad later on today (it's 12 AM) when he gets home if he also agrees with me. If yes, we're going to send a copy of the receipt to ATI to see if I can get a coupon.

You'll be denied. The voucher only came with the original 9600XT and 9800XT products. Now, only the 9800XT's have it. With the other cards, AIB partners have to pay $10 for the voucher and so many have not elected to include it.

This is true. At the time, they were included with all RETAIL cards. OEM, as you bought, was not part of the deal.. which I believe has expired anyway. So this is essentially a non-issue.

Ok i got a similar question but its not worth starting a nw thread. I bought a new graphics card that is one of the kinds that gets you half life 2 for free. But my box didnt come with an actual coupon. What should I do? Should i call ATI or should i just except the fact that the beta aint gonna happen for me? I reallly want to get to play the beta and i think its unfair for me not to just because my box didnt have a coupon. :frown:

I say call ATI, give them the BAR code, and cross your fingers that they'll send you one.

It's worth a try. What card did you get?

Because the X800 line of cards are not included in the promotion.

9800 Pro as it says in my sig.

After looking up what OEM meant (I never heard of the abbreviation.), I believe that buying a new system with ATI technology and the offer not available to OEM cards is clashing with each other, meaning they cancel each other out. Meaning, I should get a HL2 coupon.

I'm writing myself a reminder to ask my dad about this issue.

cards which are included in systems such as urs are considered OEM.
why?
because they were not bought in the retail packaging.. oh well whatever Ati call.. i guess theres no harm.. and the best thing that can happen is u trick them into thinking u are owed a HL2 coupon.

Well gosh darn it. I'm playin that beta if its the last thing i do. Besides play half life 2.

What's also wierd I'm taking action about this 9 months after I got my new PC ;)

i got my coupon for half life 2 and used the key for the premier pack. does that mean when half life2 comes out, it will just show up on my "my games" list or will i have to enter the cd key again? cuz i lost the coupon after registering the key so if i need to put in the key for half life 2, that would royally suck =(

You'll get HL2 as well as CS:Source Beta :D

How good is that :D

thats Half-Life, Half-Life Opposing Force, Half-Life Blue Shift, Day of Defeat, TFC HL2 and CS:Source Beta all for just buying a good graphics card :D

I've got a x800Pro...no coupon.

Amazing that the latest ATI products don't have the voucher. Still I bought the x800Pro for Half-Life 2...lol

Hey dude, when you buy from dell, as said before, they do not come in the retail package. And the only way you could get them is in the retail package. And I can absolutly say that you WILL NOT GET A KEY! And being stubborn about it wont help. On ATI's site they are more likely than not referring to the RETAIL VERSIONS. I can appreciate the fact that it was a supprise, but the only way to get into the CS:S beta now is to go buy (or steal :p ) a Counter Strike CZ game.
And if you do try to call ATI, good luck fighting the man. Kick him in the balls once or twice for me

Same here. Quite a quirky situation.

yeah, no coupon with my x800xt. I wasn't expecting one, but it is a little strange that they didn't continue the deal. Maybe Valve miffed ATI with the whole Sept. 30th thing: ATI didn't want more hassle calls about it.

Why would they continue the deal forever. It's not in their intrest to do that. It's the same thing when some store gives you 10% off the price from some product. The offer won't last very long. It's just to boost the sales. I wasn't even expecting to get any coupon when I bought my X800pro.

I dont see why your getting so annoyed over it, a game costs a mere £30. Plus you bought a pc package (did you get a windows cd-key? didnt think so) so you wont get any promotional shit with it, and afaik it was open to only the XT cards (9600/9800) and you have a pro.

30 pounds to you might be nothing, but it's a large hit on my wallet for something to cost $50 USD.

Errm... you NEVER get coupons or keys, purple dinosaurs or whatever with the 9800 Pro's, just the XT series. So what's the problem here?
I didn't get one with my 9800 Pro, and I'm not entitled to it either.

Only cards that has the hl2 coupn are the 9800xt,9600xt and 9600se series. Thats it. Even if you bought a pc with a 9800xt you wont get a coupn because its oem. Meaning its come only with the physical hardware itself. Theres no cable, manuals, softwares which comes in a retail package.
