How do i open ports....plz read.

Well. I dont want to enable my DMZ but i want people to be able to join my games in Source or anything else. How do i open ports for specific things?

Go into your routers settings. Go into Port Forwarding (might be under "Applications & Gaming" on some Linksys routers), you'll get to type in the port range there. So say you want ports 20157 through 20130, youd just type those 2 into the 2 boxes. Then you'll probably have to type in your computer IP adderess that your router has given you and check an "enable" box.

The ways of doing it are all different depending on your router, so consult your routers website and/or manual.

Also, to find your IP address, go to your Command Prompt and type "ipconfig". Then just follow White's advice.

ive always wondered this also. i have a d-link router and am able to host a halo server no problems, but when it comes to css cs 1.6 i cant at all. also i was hosting with the router ip on halo.

Thx thats what i thought. Do any of you know what ports source uses? Or is lt like the whole steam network and all games use the same port range.

Ummm... you asked what ports you need to open... and that page tells you exactly which ones to open...
