No i think theyd keep the train type vehicle. Its like the star wars films, they all start with the story line going away from you and then look down on to a planet or ship near a planet

Remember they cut out the ship that was gonna be in HL2? They even went to the ship to get the layout etc. I doubt they will waste all that effort, so I reckon they'll use it in HL3.

You will start with the sound of the sea, the ship rocking up and down with the waves crashing on the bow... yes I can just see it now.

On a serious note, to be honest, i really couldnt tell you...but i think it may start on a spaceship...a one that is a kind of slave ship transferring prisoners to a different planet in the combine universe or somethign...i think that would be brilliant

Although because its on a spaceship...it would be on foot still

What happened to Freeman and Alyx. What happened to Judith and Eli. I believe that Kliener tries to teleport you outta there. However, trying to focus, he accidently sends you briefly to the ruins of the lamda teleporter, then to Xen as well as other locales. Eventually you turn up in his labs, but five months later.

It turns out from the data he collected that he was able to manipulate time itself, so even though it has been five months for him, it was instantaneous for the rest of the gang. Barney suggests going back in time to prevent the disaster, then Gman makes a public appearance. He says something on the lines of the fact the Combine was going to invade one way or the other, but the xen invasion was a major factor in the Humans victory. If Xen wasn't liberated then without the vortigaunts help, we would of already fallen.

It would be cool if you saw a small resume or something and then maybe woke up on a spaceship of some kind and was told what happened to the others (hopefully they'll all be sitting there on the spaceship)

The third beginning I think will be used to set the "mood" of number #3. It can for instance be waking up on a boat far out on the sea, taking advantage of the fantastic ocean graphics and taking it slow before speeding it up out in the game, OR beginning at 100 mph in a spaceship, doing the straight opposite of the first two.

The possibilities are many, but I think Valve will think 'renewal' from the get-go.

There's no problem with the train. Besides, they shorted the train ride significantly in HL2 you can hardly even call it a ride. Well, they sort of made up for it by making you ride that casket thing in the Citadel. There's got to be something that pays homage to the original HL tram ride.
