No, they can't without getting your password and logging on to your accouknt manually.

How do you know? I'm sure its quite simple to read other user's PMs if you have access to the mySQL or whatever all that forums stuff is. Just a bit of coding.

I wonder how "private" PMs really are...

How does one "break into" a server?

If you have access to certain bits of the coding of this website, I'm sure it is possible to make something that allows you to view PMs.

yes but the pms are stored on the server ..if I'm not mistaken ..so you'd have to access it in order to see it

Well, I'll admit this is much different, but when I had a forum of my own, the guy who owned the server gave me access to pretty much everything, and I could view just about everything that the forum dealt with. I'm sure that our uber-haxxor admin friends can find a way.

Yep, it's called the "Read PMs" button in the admin CP that appeared mysteriously a while ago, and I refuse to use on principle. It's not as difficult as you think, honestly.
