how much time does it take to get really good at CS?

way I see it, best way to get good is be IN a team.
I couldn't have gotten to my current skill without being in Hl2.net|clan.

Ye, but most teams won't take you unless you know the basics of the game. Learning those basics take a while. To know how to move, throw nades and aim takes at least 2 years.

Very true. Getting into the game with a friend who can play is a good idea too if you can watch how he plays first hand.

Current skills dek? pfff, your pooh. And You don't even play!!

Personally i think owning dek is the best method of learning

j/k (i actually learnt quite a lot from dek) <3

Hope to see you on the server more dek, once i'm back playing css that is !!

you don't wanna get caught in a 3 on 1 with those 3 above anyway.

I'm still learning, I don't think i'll ever get as good as i wanna be.

One thing to learn is not to block people, biggest cause of being called a noob there is :).

I'm new to css, sorta...played it 4 times total since i registered on this forum. Played last night and got pwned 17-38. :( Some games i can own at right off the bat...others take me a while (but then most i usually dump, even if i own at it i go "sorry no challenge"). My clan is coming to css from unreal 2 xmp so i'm gonna try playing css often. Since you guys said it takes years to get good..i'm gonna frown now. :(

It is pretty easy to identify how your weapon sprays, and how to manage it.

Buy an automatic weapon, any one. Start up a map like de_dust. Stand a distance away from the wall, and shoot at it a few times. Next, let loose a burst without moving your mouse at all. Do this a few times in a few places, and then you can walk over and see exactly how the weapon sprays (each one has it's own style).

From there, you can practice controlling the spray or rapid fire to get your shots centered better, even trying out shooting on the move and while jumping and all that stuff that drives people mad about CS.

Well you don't need to worry. If you have friends who are good then ask them how they do it. It's usually just stuff like remember to duck for close range, and strafe for mid-to-long-range.
