How much would you pay for the collectors edition?

For our American chums: The RRP for PC Games in the UK is £30 which is around $55-60. Some games do sell for £35 and I even saw Deus Ex:IW in Game (a UK retail store) for £40! *cough*con*cough* Buying on the internet is a lot cheaper, saving about £5 usually but I managed to get the DVD version of FarCry on release for £18 from a UK site (and it was not on special offer!).

Going on this, I would say the Collectors edition will cost about £40-50.

Yeh will probably get it.

Gabe said i should :|

Well, the regular will be $50 (american) and depending on what came with the SE I MIGHT go to $60-70. But really, how many SE's are worth that? So it would really really depend on what was there.

I highly doubt I'll pay more than $60 total for extra crap which is worthless to me. Little toys and mouse pads I don't need and really don't do "it" for me. So it's all up to what's in the box. If it's cool and something I can use, than I won't mind the $60-70...but if it's the same ole crap as other companies...I won't bother.

Money is tight in this house, after all.

Throw in a making of DVD, Hammer, face posser and XSI video tutorials, a couple of posters, a complete set of posable minitures, an art book and a cool aluminium box and I wouldn't mind paying £150

its not like I'm going to buy another game after that..

no no no! You're supposed to say:

"... yet!"

Hey you all crazy fan-boys...
I think that HL2 hype is getting you nuts a bit...
100$ , 110$...150$ for a game?!? Some of the people here also need to live, and eat (and they don't live with their father and mother, who feed them, care for them etc.)... :burp:

Be reallistic, and don't give ideas to anyone...(ehm..Gabe...ehm)
70$ is my max.

I do appreciate Valve's work, and I LOVE their products...but I am not SO NUTS to pay that sum of money... :rolling:

This week only...
City 17 weekend + flight - only 299$ (5 star hotel)

Imagine this... (dim the lights please)...

You have been wining and dining your girlfriend and, after dinner, you both retire to the rug in front of the woodfire. You take your lovely girl in your arms and kiss her passionately. Soon, you are both naked and ready to consumate your love, so...

you bring out your "Half-Life 2 Collector's Edition Rubber with Radioactive glow" that you have been saving for this special moment. This impresses your girlfriend tremendously....

Actually, on this train of thought, brings a new meaning to "headcrabs"...

Let me off this train......

Uhh.. No one here was saying that they're willing to shell out 100's of dollars for just Half-Life 2.. We're talking about the collectors edition, which will include more than just Half-Life 2. Subtract 50 bucks from all the estimates.. What you have leftover is what people are willing to pay for extras.

If I'm just getting Half-Life 2, I would just buy the 50 dollar version.. But I tend to like cool bonus stuff, so I'll pay more for the collectors edition if I like the cool bonus stuff is has.

It's simple, really.

I shouldn't think it will be much more than the normal retail package...
20 dollars more if that.

As for extra's, a hl2 teeshirt would rock....or maybe some orange rubbers lol
most likely it will be a poster of some sort and some other small toys maybe...

I want a keychain (with logo of Half Life 2) in the collectors version of HL2. Isn't it a good idea? :)

The Source mods including Day Of Defeat, Half life and Counterstrike.
A poster
A t-shirt
A making of dvd
A colouring book

And i would be willing to pay £60 - £70 for it, but, i was more wanting to get the subscription on Steam to download all those free games and stuff :(.

Most I would pay is $90 USD, and that is if it had a heck of a lot more stuff with it, not just some tin box and t-shirts that no one will ever understand except my friends.

I don't live at my parents, but I will pay much for HL2! Even if I can't afford to eat for a week! I just move in with my girl and mootch (spelling?) of her. =) Or at worst, I drink alot of water! =)

a piece of metal from the original valve

once again, I wonder if anyone will get what I'm talking aobut.

I think the collectors edition will also include a pair of HL2 pants, after soiling your own seeing the game in action.

Calling an eraser a "rubber" is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. 1 it is not rubber. 2, erasers, ERASE! OMG IMAGINE THAT! Silly europeans........ :rolling:

I think it comes with all of the Source mods and a special behind the scenes video or something.

I'd pay like $70.00 for it, no more though.

Id pay 70$ ...seeing as that is what EBgames is selling it at..

the most i would pay for halflife2 collectors edition whould be $59.99....
no more, no less.............

I think I could probably pay up like $100 too. That's what I get every month from the state (or something...) for going to school so :D

For measurement:

This box which contains a ****load of interesting stuff was prized around $80-$90 when it was new here in Sweden all those years ago. I bought it last Summer for around $30 :D And the original prize is the most expensive game I've ever seen here except for Steel Battalion (which doesn't come in any special editions or similar...)

Also, the Red Alert 2 Collector's Edition
http://www.mobygames.com/game/covers/gameCoverId,27421/gameId,2542/ (bad picture...)
can be found for ~$25 here in Sweden too :) We're lucky I guess ;)

Nope the school I just quit (doh) gave us free books. I guess the first 12 years of school gives you free books. Doubt we get them for free when we start @ the university though :(

But practically everybody borrows money from the bank to survive University here. So I won't be different :)

Edit: Well you should know. You're a Swede too I see :D

Yeah, I should have. I was just mixing "gymnasiet" and "Universitetet".

ne-waller that was fricken hilarious, and oh so true. Be careful though, my brother got banned from thsi site for giving Americans shit....

Well, the yank started it ;)

Hell, we probably invented rubbers, we can call them what we want :p

Edit: Ben Afleck in pearl harbour - "it sounds like WW2 just started"

ROFLMAO

And for the record, D-Day was primarily a British and Commonwealth operation. You wouldn't think so judging by Saving Private Ryan, would you? Such a pity that films are used as a replacement for real history these days :(

And you forgot the American version of football being rugby with panty liners on their shoulders and wearing tights. ^^

It really isn't wise for an American to ever start one of these discussions, it's a lost cause

OMFG

RETARDS GOT OWNED:

Rubber did not get its name until much later – in 1770, an eminent English chemist, Joseph Priestley, noted the ability of this substance to ‘rub out’ pencil marks, and ever since it has been called rubber in the English language.

So it's called rubber because it is used as a rubber. How stupid does that make you look?

Well Crusader, while I do agree with you about Americans raping history with their strange theories on how historic battles played out (thats right, there were absolutely no Americans on U-571) I have to disagree bout D-Day, which did actually involve alot of US troops. Unlike the rest of the war.

The only thing I really would like to see is in-game content from the collector's edition. If they're gonna charge for CS:S DoD:S TFC:S etc...have them all in the collectors edition for a decent price.

The only thing I think would be kinda cool (not counting in-game content)..would be an HL2 dvd sorta case that was metal whose edges were lined with rivets with a raised HL2 logo... That'd look badass.

They just HAVE to have some kind of headcrab. Maybe a squishy one that sticks to walls when you throw it ^^
