Well, it's quite simple really, maybe they had an entire section of the facility designed so that the families of the workers could stay there yet not be able to wander off without supervision. Or something like that.

Well, as far as I know, and how the members has told me, it has been confirmed what the characters use for their ages.

In HL2 alyx is 20, and gordon 27. In HL1 alyx was around 14, so 6 years between HL1 and HL2 made alyx now 20. In HL1 gordon didn't age, becuase the G-man took him trough the time and the past all the way to HL2.

Like when gordon seiged down nichataka or something like that in HL1, the time stopped there.

Well Eli's line about carrying Alyx out of Black Mesa might not have have any relevance on her age at the time since I actually frequently have to carry my 14 year old cousin still whenever she's throwing a tantrum, in trouble with mom, aunt, me, the law or scared. My girlfriend makes me do the same. Theres also the possibility the Alyx may have been injured or traumatized.

As for the sweatshirt it looks unisex IMO so it could've belonged to any Black Mesa member.

Eli is probably in his 50's to 60's and I believe that both Kleiner and Breen are in their early to mid fifties.

The G-Man is probably a billion years old and had witnessed the universe being created and fought dinosaurs and dragons.

In Blue Shift we saw that there were food courts, in what seemed to be a minimall.

As for the gym theres already the hazard course and shooting range. The people who work at this facility (Especially those donning Hazard Suits and Kevlar.) are supposed to be in a good physical shape. Why is it such a stretch to believe that there could be a gym? Nasa headquarters has one, most polic stations have one, heck even the bank where my Dad worked had one. Why not Black Mesa?

Well I don't think they force them to excercise (or complete the course for that matter) since not every worker is security or H.E.V.

Hence there are all the fat cops you see on streets and fat bankers like my dad. Astronauts on the other hand they force.

EDIT: The minimall I mentioned furthered my argument on how Black Mesa is open enough menial laborers in certain areas. Unless they shoot those busboys for revealing too much then it wouldn't be much of a secret. Although I can actually see that happening in Area 51/Nellis Air Force Base which existance the government doesn't even acknowledge.

Think about most large complexes, people have to stay there (as its in the middle of the desert) so they need things like dormatories, gyms, shops, everything.

Its not a military camp, its a decommissioned missile silo, where people work, as it is far from civilisation, they live there too.
