I don't get where people think Alyx is petite. She comes up to the
same height as Dr. Mossman IIRC. Which seems to be average
female height for the game.

Its Gordon's point of view that seems to be a little taller than the
other characters.

The hoody doesn't have to be standard issue, Eli could have gotten
it from the Black Mesa gift shop as well.

The comment about carrying her out of BM could be a metaphor as well.
Meaning he did not literally carry her out of the complex, but that she
and a few personal possessions were all he was able to get to safety
before they lost the complex and the portal wars started.
