How to pay for college?

Sounds like you want a free ride through college to me. I wouldn't join the military just for college if I were you. Work one or two jobs while taking classes and save up money over the summer. That's what I do.
Its the main reason, but not the only one. I suppose I want a free ride (everyone does) but I know that I can not get one and I will have to work for it. Saving up money is pretty risky from what I hear too, I know someone who got injured and couldn't work during the summer and ended up getting screwed on loans and dropping out of college.

Joining the military can be pretty risky. What if you get sent over seas and you die?

I am going into the Air Force though, very very low risk of dieing. There is a very low risk of dieing in any branch of the military though, even in the infantry.

military should be your last option imo, not the first. what other channels have you consulted?

During Gulf War the death rate in the military went down. I haven't applied to any colleges yet, but I have a friend who has a worst GPA than I do and he was accepted into a pretty good state college.

its not the death rate you should be looking at, its the injuries... just in a patrol the other day i heard on the news, the report said there were no fatalities, but 2 guys had there legs blown off.

Ya, and that is still low, and even lower for the Air Force.

It seems like you have your heart set 100% to the military. Why not just do it then?

Not 100, just seeing if there are any other options. I probably am going to do it, I just don't want to find out that there was a better option after I enlist :p

Just do what I did...say **** it, drop out of school, and start from there. :D

And then move to berkeley, join a comune, and smoke pot all day until you are elected president at age 51. Like tr0n.

San Francisco, San Jose, or Berkeley...I haven't decided yet.I'll figure all that out in about 9 months. :p

Also no comunes or smoking pot.

GPA be dashed, you've missed 99% of college app deadlines. With a poor GPA and competition from the next year of students, I don't know what you're going to to if you want to continue your education.

You're ****ed

Explain? Why does it matter when I apply to college?

Most D Ls are in april or earlier... Also another way to make money is manual labor. If you can find the right job You can make a lot of money like 25-35$ per hour.

very few people make that kind of money doing manual labor, especially if you are an unskilled labourer.

The perfect job for a student is waiting tables or bartending (if you can get it) ....at the right bar/restuarant you can make a decent weeks pay in 4, 4 hour shifts. But it's tough demanding work. The better you are at it the more $ you can make.

why dont you just get a job? And saveing money risky? Military is far more riskier then putting money into a bank... Military should be your last option. I dont understand why you dont just get a full time job in the summer and save up.

Go tree planting. It's a lot like the army in that you get treated like shit and sleep in tents but you make a lot of money.

Did you look into 3rd party scholorships, FAFSA, and CSS.

How old are you. If you have a job (any job) and can legally prove that you are an independent adult, that also helps.

sell your hot bod. No but seriously I feel for you in a situation like this :( had you made the grades and lived in Norway you would get your way :p
