How we got to the Borealis...

Omg! It's called "The Northen Lights" Bloody American Book-Rapers!

Narnia has the Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. And for obvious film-nerd like you (ie. has never read a book before), it had Liam Neeson as Aslan.

You just ruined the entire series for me...

Just like my parents ruined Narnia for me!

Narnia can suck its own furry lion balls for all I care. I'm watching this thread like a hawk.

Anyways, post on.

And if Gordon gets to the Borealis, how big is it? Like 3x Titanic big or kinda big yacht i bought big??

Probably titanic big, did'nt you see the picture of the Blackmesa scientist stand next to it?

No. It's not as big as the Titanic. It's very big, but then alot of ships are. But the Titanic was gigantic.

It just think it's a big ship. Probably a whole chapter (or two) in there.

Ugh. More wuestions answered. And presuming we somehow breach the hull, said ship will contain what special something that piques our interests and makes us battle for survival??

Possibly the teleport in the ship will take us to Xen or at least a glimpse of the world.

You've played Half-Life? And Opposing Force?

And I'm assuming you've played HL2 and Episode 2.

You can't get bored of them. They're intrinsic to the game design.

Of course I've played them. :p

But I get tired with the constant driving. :hmph:

Ugh, seeing as almost all HL2 was spent in a vehicle, and ep. 2 was sometimes spent in the cool car, and btw, what kind of vehicle will we possibly see in Ep. 3? A snow vehicle perhaps, or some form of a boat that rips up thick ice.

Am I the only one imagining a grief stricken helicopter ride, if riding in a car with a sad chick is bad imagine it at ?(whatever the point is where the air is too thin to keep a helicopter airborne minus a thousand) You know because as censored movies have taught us everything is worse in the sky. And because I'm typing as I think what if Alyx is crying while Gordon is trying as hard as silently possible to tell her to pay attention and thats how you crash. Mr. Newell you can have that story for a plush companion cube, headcrab hat, citadel poster signed by Viktor Antonov, and... 3000 euros (everyone has a price, mines just comes in euros)

I can't imagine the chopper ride being to long, and more driving would, well, suck.(with the exception of driving a Combine APC *that would rock*)
there needs to be more boats like the air boat in HL2

I was thinking of something along the lines of snow tractor. And assuming that the Borealis is pretty big, I would think you could spend an entire episode in there.

Borealis is big, but not nearly big enough to have the entire episode take place there. Not only would it be impractical and unrealistic, it would be boring from a gameplay standpoint.

Part of the episode will take place getting to the Borealis on foot/by vehicle after the inevitable helicopter crash.

Well this is my idea:

They bury the body etc.. Alyx goes with him in the helicopter and for about 20 mins of random flying and Alyx weeping over her loss, your fuel goes down. You land at a rebel base where you meet Barney again and loads of other rebels. A billion Hunters come and wipe all of them out but Gordon, Alyx and Barney somehow get back onto the helicopter in time. Same thing happens over and over again with different things to kill/do. Until you get there and Alyx has had her baby...

That whould make for pretty boring and repeative gameplay. Some vort assist with a new teleporter?

Yeh, a snowmobile would be good, maybe as race as alyx drives a similar one along side.

The helicopter was pretty damaged by the advisor attack, so we have to repair that before we can use it.

I thought it might have been damaged by falling glass etc, but it doesnt look like it was damaged at all... SCREENSHOT PLZ!!

yesh, we needz a screenshot, im 2 lay z to get one LOL.

Sorry if this has been brought up before but where the hell did Alyx learn to fly a helicopter?

It's been twenty years, man! You don't think she couldn't have learned piloting in that time?

I have a hard time seeing Alyx flying around taking helicopter lessons in this post apocalyptic future, i mean, thats like begging for attention.
Has it been twenty years? I heard 10.

Ugh, ten years since what? Oh, wait, hmm. Anyways, the thing is if she pilots it there should at least be a lengthy cutscene or something, that reveals at least a bit of story of Ep. 3 or a little bit of relationship with Gordon & Alyx. LOLWUT?

I just mean that it's a fairly odd skill to be learning. I wouldn't think that helicopters are used much anymore, especially since if a gunship spots them they're pretty much dead.

People don't always learn because it's useful; they learn because it's fun and interests them. I certainly wouldn't take flying lessons because I want to become a pilot, I'd take them because I'd love to give it a whirl.

Besides, there was a fair amount of time before the Combine invaded. Alyx could have learned before the Seven Hour War, or, hell, during the initial occupation. Things weren't like this just after the Combine moved in, you know.

Then why haven't any of the rebels ca[tured a combine helicopter, besides the fact that its nearly impossible to do so? WTF. If she pilots, that would be cool, but what about us? What about Gordon. WTF.

This brings up an important point of combine air superiority. Does it really seem possible that a non-combine helicopter could leave what was just a battleground and fly away without being shot down by: striders, gunships, combine elites (pulse rifle secondary fire) or hunters. (in fact lone hunter could take it out pretty easily)

If anyone here has seen George Romero's Dawn of the Dead than you would know that learning to fly a helicopter ain't no thang.

And if anyone here has seen The Matrix then they would know all it takes is a bit of funny eye twitching.

Hunters are going to take out a helicopter? Those fletchettes can't reach that high.

I don't think the orbs even have the range to take down a helicopter either. They tend to explode after twenty meters or so.
