this could actually topple the iPhone in terms of popularity and definitely in terms of performance. I Pre-ordered this beast and cannot wait till it arrives

so has anyone else owned a Droid phone?? I currently have the outdated LG Voyager and this will be a huge upgrade for me. I'm spending $150 and thats pretty reasonable me thinks. I just dislike the $30 smartphone plan I have to get but that comes with the territory. I keep hearing this a good find though

I don't have the Droid, but I have the HTC G1. It uses the same Android platform but obviously has better upgrades with the newer phones. I love Android, I think it's an amazing platform for developers to work with.

But I can tell you that I'm very disappointed with the Android Market. You won't find much quality apps as say, you would find on the App Store with the iPhone. There's just too many dumb apps that I've seen, like the usual 20 different apps for a flashlight. I really love the phone and OS, but I wish there was more variety in terms of apps.

That's a pretty bold claim. It's just another Android phone, there's a new one every week.

It isn't about specs.

Yeah, it's about marketing and perception. The iphone isn't the superior product, people are just dumb.

I just got myself the Backflip and it seems to do everything the iPhone does. Has apps (not as many though), full QWERTY flip out keyboard, internet/wifi, 5mp camera, gps, etc etc. And got them buy one get one free for $99.99.

Apparently my HTC Desire is being delivered on Monday. It's essentially a UK version of the Google Nexus one. It looks like a nifty phone, android 2.1 and AMOLED screen I think.

Looking forward to having it, unfortunately my network provider is ****ing rubbish.

Looked cool until I saw it was only on Verizon. As good as their service is screw paying that much money for a data plan.

My friend got the Motorola droid, and its great. I was going to drop AT&T once my contract ended to get the same one, but the Incredible looks like it just took its place.

Breaking News: Brand new phone might beat year old phone in terms of technology.

By comparing every phone to the iphone, people are keeping the iphone at the top. I'd think if people started comparing droids to blackberry's and other phones, ignoring the iphone, people might start to shop around more. Rather than, "Oh everybody is still comparing it to the iphone, let's go check that one out."

Superior is subjective. There aren't any features that Android phones have that make me want to trade in my iPhone.

but as for my sake, Verizon doesn't have the iPhone and thats why this is appealing to me. sad part is, anywhere you go you see iPhone accessories, chargers, you name it.

Ah, I didn't know Verizon doesn't have it :(. If you can wait, take a look at those Windows 7 phones.

I can't wait. I've had the really shitty Voyager which was one of the 1st smartphones for Verizon and after a few months I grew tired of it. this was about 20 months ago so I think I've waited long enough.
