http://www.half-life2.com/

someone could e-mail them and ask... because there is a small chance it could be the next riddle, or it could be something they don't want us to see.

My guess is they moved servers; and accidentily the new server hadn't PHP installed...

well I dled it and converted it to a php file, loaded it into Dreamweaver and I get the hl2.com site without the images... so nothing special so far :p

someone said there was stuff in their we weren't supposed to know about so try taking a gander at that, everyone loves that kind of behaviour.

Yay, Gabe replied to the e-mail i sent him when the site first went down thanking me for the heads up :)

i dunno if this would effect thier websites, but some1 over at the steam forums said they had a power outage.

Yeah, I was just about to post that.

I asked in the thread whether it was to blame for this too. My name there is GingerNinja. :)

Well, the server was still working (because you could d/l the pages), it just looked like php was uninstalled

GingerNinja? I r pplay jo0 on hlDM!!1

lol, I havnt played HL deathmatch for a long time...

I played oposing force death match with badger and a few other forum members a while ago and some random guy asked me if I was the GingerNinja from some clan or something...

Maybe you are thinking of him! :)

But I will have to play you some time. :)

Add me on steam. My nick is GingerNinja :cheese:

Yea, I was in the game with Badger and you (Ginger). You already added me to Steam! SixThree!

Soooo...every single Valve site is down, huh?

steampowered.com isn't down, i think they may be putting in massive updates.

Or maybe we're just wishing for that to happen... Actually Half-Life2 is just one big joke

The source code included the passwords to the site databases. I don't think it was a purposeful event.

If someone found that who wanted to damage the site, they could have done a lot of damage to it...

But yeah, it's safe to talk about it now, becuase valve will change them.

half life site back up

The site is now back up, with no new additions. :frown:

curse those handsome devils! i was hoping on new content.

Wow, no new update, what a ****ing suprise.

I can't believe you people actually thought...

I am thinking you two are a little late.. lol

The offical HL2 site went down a while bk and instead of downloading the page to the brouser it made itself available for download in its raw PHP form.

Well thats what I think happend anyway.

Nothing worth being concerned about I dont think.

the only concern was that the username and password for the database connection was available, which is never a good thing. the 'up' side to this is that it wouldnt be much use unless you had direct access to the server, which is unlikely.

that said i'm glad they got it sorted and (assumedly) changed the passwords etc. before any damage was done.

edited for grammer (my english teacher would turn in his grave ;) )

I have mixed feelings about companies who put up official web sites but then never update any content on it. they could just be forgetting about the site, or they could be spending all their time on the actual game and not the site, which is good. Once the game is out though, they should start actually supporting the site.

People whined for an official half-life 2 site so they gave us one. I agree though, once the game comes out they should update the site a lot more often.

omg you SHOULD ALL USE FIREFOX MOZILLA AND NOT IE EXPLORER. IE EXPLORER IS EVIL. You'll never be hijacked with mozilla, no pop-ups or anything, it's great. Firefox all the way!

Funny you mention that. I installed it earlier today and I love it.

So much modability in it compared to IE.
