I flyingdebris, wearer of the combine outfit, am now working on building a headcrab you can wear on your head.

Right now the only thing left for me to do is add the skin to it as it is currently just a copper wireframe. i'll post updates on its construction if anyone is interested

Lol, and to think it isn't even close to Halloween...and you've got the combine and Headcrab suits going.

Cool though.

Ok well adding the skin is the hard part. You'll need an airbrush and various other small precise paint spraying devices. I suggest getting photos of the facehugger from alien to see the patterns on the skin.

There must be some info on the web about the materials they used to create models in LOTR, google that. You don't want something too rubbery as it will jiggle on your face.

Don't turn this into a 10 year old science project paper mache effort, with crayon drawn all over it. The frame looks pretty damn good so far.

Pretty cool, I bet you could pick up alot of ladies wearing that. ;)
BTW: I'm back from a 1-month ban

Hey, maybe you could make a small business out of making custom-tailored headcrab and combine wear and selling them from your garage!. Anyway, nice work.

actually i was just planning on getting yellow fabric and cutting and sewing the skin on. i'm on a shoestring budget here.

i was planning to make the main body's skin out of some cheap fabric or maybe a rubbery kind and try for some sort of translucent area around where my eyes would be so that i don't walk around blind

looks very cool....

and vegeta: i was plenty happy to give you that 1 month ban in the first place. I'm happy that you've stuck with us, please respect the rules of the forums and of common sense. Happy posting.

looks cool so far. getting some latex stuff for it would make it look pretty good i bet. unrelated to this, do you think well be seeing combine zombies walking around in hl2?

Have you considered the combine may not be made of bio-matter, rendering the headcrab useless against them.

Just something to consider.

Flyingdebris, Maybe if you sew/sow some kind of semi-rigid material on it, and then get a friend that is good at airbrush art to airbrush it to look like a Headcrab, or maybe a auto shop that does designs or something. Lol I dont know, or maybe one of the carnies that do the artwork on the rides :p Just suggestions.

i am capable of painting it myself i am an art student after all, plenty of paints are at my disposal

Your work is pretty damn sweet, do you live in central FL? Nevermind, don't tell me. I was planning on stealing your badass combine stuff anyway :p

the combine bleed dont they? im not saying that for sure they are organic based, but thats the way im leaning, so i would imagine one could be taken over by a headcrab.

You're combine suit is pretty nice, alltho not all too authentic, but still nice, I wonder if Nightmare Armor could do a combine armor, that'd be sooo sweet, they've already done masterchief from Halo.:D

Looks pretty cool at the moment. Just make sure you don't wear it in front of a police officer, or wear it to a UFO convention, lol, thinking it may be real, they would blow your head off with a buckshot.

Question: how are you going to be able to see out of it?

that is really sweet! I would buy one!

I hope you're also going to make some claw-like gloves.

he's already said this:

:bonce:

Just like the way that you could see the host's skull inside the headcrab in HL1.

Hmmm... maybe the combine wear the gas masks as a primitive "Anti-Headcrab" measure.

actually for the person who asked if i live in central Florida, i do. i'm attending college in Sarasota

i'm not sure if i'll get around to doing the claw gloves but i hope i get to make them

i was originally planning on putting a skull mask inside the headcrab to make it look like the host's skull but i couldn't find any place that sells skull masks this time of year.

Practice the zombie walk: Shuffle your feet, and remember that in the videos we've seen of HL2, the Zombies all seem to hold their claws bent back up over their forearms.

How are you at doing the zombie gargle?

can someone put up a pic that has the hosts skull showing? ive never noticed that before.

Well, you can see the optical orbits, and the teeth too, IIRC. It's like the headcrab digests the head of the host to fuel its takeover of the body. However, if you listen to the zombies in the traptown demo, they sound as though the host is moaning, so maybe new zombies heads aren't digested straight away...

LOOKS SWEET NOW PAPER MASHY IT......till completely covered...then paint that BEAUTY UP

Where do you go to school at here? I'm just asking because I live in Sarasota too. I used to go to FSU but now I go to MCC in Bradenton. Lousy GPA....

i go to ringling school of art and design

heh and i thought there were hardly any gamers in Sarasota...

can you hear the moaning in the videos, or in the playable beta?

Dude you should mass produce these and sell them over the internet, or sell them in Gaming stores!!!!!!!!

Make zombie claws, and a bloodied scientist's lab coat.

Thanks in advance.

Awesome, I am in class right now (Webster in Ocala). Too far for me to gank a suit, I am afraid. Anyhow keep pumping out the cool HL2 gear :imu:

If you were ever to sell any I'd definately buy a couple.

seriously dude.. once u have the headcrab finished, u need to email pics to Gabe.. i wanna see his reaction.. hehe

Thanks for the support, i'll email gabe the pictures when i finish it.

I don't have a lab coat but if i find a cheap one at the nearby goodwill store i'm definitely buying it. Oh and i'll try making the bloody claws too.

Tonight after my classes finish (my last class ends at like 9:45pm) i'll try heading over to walmart and pick up some cloth perhaps something rubbery, and sew me together some headcrab skin and paint it up.

Hey flyingdebris.. I know it's a little late, but just a tip on the combine outfit: tuck in the laces on your boots! I know it may not seem like a big thing, but the military ALWAYS tucks in the bootlaces. If you don't believe me, try going to basic training and not tucking in your laces... you'll come out with more holes than you went in with... ;-)
