I can't hear myself fire guns in CS..

Hi, like 2 days ago CS was working flawlessly... and now the sound is all funked up. Its the same way in DoD and with the HL2 videos... no sound or crusty sound that's all garbled. I tried reinstalling Steam, and rebooting 2wice, but that didn't do anything... I hope my cheap Shuttle MoBo isn't screwed ;(

Um..how do I do that? I have a Shuttle AN35N-Ultra mobo with onboard sound. I've tried goin' to their site, n downloadin sht, but it didn't do anything when I restarted my comp

Right click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager

Expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" group and right click the appropriate device(s) associated with your sound card. Uninstall. Restart.

That's about as close as you're going to get to a reinstall for onboard sound, try updating the drivers for the onboard sound as well.

Check the motherboards website for driver update. If that doesnt work then format your hard drive and reinstall windows. If nethier works its probably a problem with your hardware and you will have to fix it under warrenty or just buy a new motherboard. Formating your hard drive and reinstalling windows is a last resort as i guessing it will have no effect at all. But give it a try.

Noooooo....hardware upgrading sux so bad.... I'd much rather buy games with that $$$.... screw that I'm not upgrading. I'll pray instead

I'd probably check all the hardware connections first. Make sure that everything is tight in its jack and that jumbling/rotating connectors don't change the problem.

Any chance your computer went through a hard reset about two days ago?

Man...this is pissing me off. I've tried reinstalling my drivers... and the Binks for HL2 worked pretty well especially Tunnels, but when Alyx talks in the Hydra scene, she sounds like a robot. Please, any assistance would be more than greatly appreciated.
