I just thought that everybody was so stoked on the Halo series when there were far better games out there. The game is just completely average. It has no exceptional traits whatsoever, and quite a few negative or lackluster ones. I don't hate it, I just don't like it and I don't think it deserves the hype it receives.

I agree it's overhyped, but it's still a good series. I find Halo a lot more fun than lots of "better" games, i.e. UT2004 (among others).

And that's the thing. I didn't find it fun, which is the number one most important factor a game could have. Maybe it's because I'm not much of a console guy, but in any case it wasn't engaging or fun for me, especially the campaign mode. Once I made it to Xbox Live, the people on it killed any fun factor I would've had there.

I also agree that it was completely overhyped. It was an okay game in terms of entertainment, but like Samon said, Shooting Gallery levels being more the rule than the exception (I very much enjoyed the open, outdoor levels) gimp the gameplay on a spectacular level.

It was just another FPS, nothing spectacular.

Over hyped and nothing more. Multi-player was fun though.

I don't "hate" Halo, I just find it very uninteresting in terms of gameplay, characters and story.
Some are acting like it's The worst game ever though, all I can say is that there are far far worse games out there.

There's one thing I do hate about Halo 2 though, why is the first person perspective so goddamn zoomed in!? It's giving me a headache.

my biggest problem with halo is ..why cant I kick ass? no seriously I supposed to be this tough master chief guy and all I can do is jump a little higher/pistol whip enemy? I should be able to toss them around like rag dolls ...it's decidely low tech imo ..I mean it's glorified armor when I wanted a supersuit to help me kick multiple ass at he same time ..instead I have to shoot enemies dozens of times to bring them down? why are guns so impotent in this game? even the shotgun needs a few rounds at times to take out some of the weakest enemies in any thing but point blank range

My thoughts exactly, what the hell is the point of asking a forum devoted to another game?

For the record, I do enjoy the Halo series very much. I was bored of the campaign and such after a short while, but the vast expanse of its multiplayer keeps me entertained even today. Seriously, playing with 10 friends over multiple Xboxes with Halo 2 multiplayer brings out some of the best gaming moments of my life (especially with custom gametypes and such).

The supersuit weighs a ton, or something like that.
You're also fighting Aliens, not Humans.
You're also playing in a sci-fi video game.

I love how people say Halo's story is so terrible, when it's backstory is so ****ing deep I wouldn't touch it with a 100m stick. I'd be afraid to get sucked into the vastness

That is true about the backstory. Think about all the novels written that expand the Halo Universe, whereas most Half Life backstory has come from ingame, short explanations by developers, and fan fiction.

The first one was decent enough. Multiplayer was ace on the PC.

Second one bored the shit out of me. I had to complete the single player in co-op, even then I felt physically bored. Didn't play the MP for this.

I'll get Halo 3 if it turns out to be any good.
