I hate people who type slowly.

For fun I timed myself re-typing your post willie.

15 seconds :(

Apparently I type pretty fast, but I don't think so. I only use two fingers on each hand, and occasionally my right thumb for the 0 on the numpad.

Fun times.

I don't know too many people who type slow thankfully. That can be a pain to watch especially if they pause having difficulty locating a keys often. Another thing that is annoying is to watch my parents bring up a website. They take a long time navigating through the many folders within their favorites list instead of typing target.com in the address bar, for example.

My dad types really slow and does the hunt-and-peck thing. Sometimes I seriously think he loses his train of thought on what words he wants to type because it takes so long. It's sad because he used to type normally. How do you unlearn how to type???

favourites, meh

I have five links near my address bar and that's it.

Favourites should be used for websites that are useful but you don't visit very often, just so incase you need to go there again in the future, you will have the address saved.

If you have a favourites folder with 200 web pages in it, there's not much point using it for the sites you visit regularly.

I'm sure I'm preaching to the converted here, but this whole thread is mostly doing just that. We've all proven in past "how fast do you type" threads that, generally, we're fast typists.

I just noticed that I also type with 2 fingers on each hand - middle and finger. I guess I can type pretty fast, but despite using the keyboard for like over a decade, I look at the keys when I type. If I don't I tend to hit the keys next to the ones I want to hit.

If I type not looking at the keyboard I need to use the backspace key often, which causes me to type slower. Maybe I should force myself to type like that for some time and it will eventually click.

I type with 2(+) fingers as well. I don't use the home row technique. I've been typing this way for the longest time, and I type faster than everyone I know.

There's actual techniques for it?

I just type with all my fingers, using the left thumb on the space bar. My other thumb isn't usually used.

You've never heard of the home row keys? Ever wonder why there's indents in the F and J keys?

I noticed a science teacher in my school replied to an email right before letting me use his computer. I must have been waiting quite a while for one line on MS Outlook.

One of our I.T. techs at work types with his index fingers only. He has an ergonomic keyboard for an extra hoot. He doesn't even attempt to type fast, it's like watching someone play whack-a-mole with their fingers (except they suck at it) - he raises his finger up high over the keyboard and smashes it down on the key. One at a time.

I.T.: "I'll need to reconfigure your IP address."
Me: "I'll be back in an hour."
