I just Played XBOX 360 AND OMG!!!!

and in a year's time, PCs will have surpassed the "next-gen" consoles in terms of power. And then the next-next-gen consoles come out. Repeat ad inifitum.

it already had, look at sig :)

oh well, maybe they are in equal powers for now. :D

I gotta find a place that's still taking reserves. My local gamestop is fresh out :(.

I don't think so ;) - and at a fraction of the cost.

This is something that is not tied to consoles or Microsoft. Any game made on any platform by any company can be ruined as a result of this.
Yes but the more money a publisher has to put down to fund a game the faster they want it to get out and get them some money. Thus since they arn't putting out a simple 1 - 2 million but rather up to 70 million there going to only publish sure ideas, and there going to want that game out in a reasonable time.

400 dollas.... :/ (for the decent package)

think Ill hold off a bit on that unless I get it for xmas .. small hope but would be nice

Yeah, because he's really going to be able to gauge how long the gameplay will last after a 15 minute play period. The people dismissing the whole console and range of games completely just because someone describes how fantastic the graphics are (and let's face it, that's the first thing anyone would focus on for a next-gen console) are hilarious.
Well I don't care about the game if he dosn't go all wild over the gameplay. He just went wild for the graphics, with basically no mention of how good the game actually was.

He is buying a 360 for basically...average games that look extremely good. I don't dismiss the console that all the games will suck. But as far as I can tell, I have seen no game no video no nothing for the 360 that has shown me anything funner than a game on the previous generation or the pc. I seen a video of Project Gotham 3, in-game. Was it any funner than Underground\Underground 2....no it looked basically like 2 cars trying to get to the finish line first with nothing new but enhanced graphics..

I could care less about graphics really, I care about the games. Maybe if I see a few games that look super fun, give it a ride at my cousins house first, and then I'll buy one. I'm basically only looking forward to the Revolution...cuz it's the only one that seems like it offers something new. Developers also seem to like it :).

Go watch some videos of Condemned: Criminal Origins...maybe that will change your mind :)

Revolution isn't even on my mind of a possible purchase. GameCube still is (even at a reasonable price of 100 dollars), but definetly not the Revolution. "Oh wow, a controller that makes videogames easier and more family friendly! What's this? And I can use it to individually control Link's sword in a future Zelda game that plays like the Ocarina of Time? WOW. W-O-W."

Yes, its quite revolutionary. Too bad Atari beat them to it 20 years ago.

DeuxExMachinia read this:
http://cube.ign.com/articles/660/660408p1.html

Those are developer thoughts on the Revolution's controller.

What nintendo is doing is that this controller will be standard for most games. It can also detect alot more, up or down, left right, straight, backward, tilts, etc..

Also when did Atari have such a contorller to detect all that and apply them in game?

Look, at least controllering links sword is something new. At least I can use the controller to make block attacks, attack the enemy, while using it to move. Dual lightsabers, 2 remotes etc...you could have some cool fun like that.

I was referring more to the design of the controller to Atari's. Frankly...it just looks stupid. In my opinion of course, I know there's thousands citing its genius.

Have you read the article at theinquirer.net, PS3 is a modified version of 7800gtx

the graphics unit inside the PS3 is 7800GTX + 7% to 12% performance increase.

But who would be silly enough to compare pcs and consoles spec for spec?

The GPU in a ps3 will deliver games that look considerably better than the same gfx card in a pc. We're also talking about the 360, with its new ATI card - which is very powerful. I doubt even next gen pc cards will be able to keep up with it.

The graphics unit in the Ps3 is 7% - 12% faster in terms of clock speeds etc.. but the fact that you can optimize the hell out of it and that it isn't cpu limited makes it much faster.

Uh, okay then... how would you make the gameplay in PGR3 'next-gen', because I'd really like to hear this. I pretty much think that we're at the point of just evolving gameplay, rather than changing it altogether, unless of course you take it to the radical extreme - enter Nintendo. The PS3 will be exactly the same as the X360, so I don't quite know what everyone is expecting.

Oh, and you've done this twice in the thread now - it's couldn't care less. Saying you could care less means you can go to a further extent of not caring, which kind of defeats the point of the phrase.

God damnit. Can you people go spooge over Miyamoto in some other topic? The Revolution still pains my eyes and I would prefer its taint to be taken elsewhere.

Aint my job to figure that out. It's my job to just let my draw drop when it happens.

Sweet!! Condemned is gonna rock!! Yeah I preordered one already...long time ago, I think a month ago..The people who are preordering now will have to wait until the middle of december to get there X360...One question for the thread creator:

Was the game you were playing on a HDTV??
I think it was an lcd monitor of some sort with HD on it i dont know.

And as for the people that actually played the King Kong demo for the PC, know that the gameplay was intense and super fun.

1.I just want to add that today i went back to the walmart to get a better look at the game demos because last time i went they were closeing. When i was there luckely no one was at the booth playing so i jumped on and started playing CALL OF DUTY 2 And i must say it was agian nothing like the PC version everything just looked and ran so much better. It simply looked REAL The clothing on the characters backs the buildings looked amazing the smoke affect are just UNBELIEVABLE. THis one is a must buy . Remember games will be coming out weeks before the console so i personally would get them beforehand if you have the money.

2.Kameo. This is a third person game that Also blew me away gameplay and graphics wise. I cant really explain this game ONE WORD FUN!!!!! . There was so much action going on in this game at once that i didnt understand how it could handle such intense battles. I'm a FPS guy and I love the Way this was put together. Also a must get.

3.They also had PGR 3 , Need For Speed , But they only had videos to watch noe DEMOS.

I was thinking of buying a new PC but i ask myself WHY?? when you can spend $299 and you get top of the line Graphics card top of the line CPU . Perfect for people that cant spend $1,500 on a new super computer. :)

I just played the xbox 360 and it's very blah. There was a setup at my local walmart when myself and some friends went for a food run. I played through King Kong and a few other demos and it was decidedly shitty. In all cases it's like playing a computer game with gfx from last year on a tv at rather low res and lowish polycount at 30fps with only a controller. Personally, I'd rather take searing hot coals to the testicles, thanks. Not a future purchase for me.

Why are you doing this?:frown:

Update!!!!!! I was wrong people theXbox 360 sucks dont buy it i was wrong it has crappy graphics and poor gameplay sorry . Thank you come agian.

I really wanna play it but I also want to have that awesome feeling of playing a new console for the first time on launch day. The Gamecube launch was awesome. I couldn't believe how tiny the system was when I took it out of the box. I played Luigi's Mansion, Rogue Leader, and Wave Race all day. Good memories.

I've waited this long, I can wait for a few more weeks.

Ok so I went up to my local walmart and gave the 360 a go and as far as the graphics go IMO the games basically look like they would on my computer with all settings maxed out at a great framerate, besides the environments in Kameo there wasnt anything that made me go WOW. I played both king kong and cod2 on my computer and on the 360 thats how Im comparing the two. Gameplay wise it was just as i expected it to be on any console this gen or next gen, Im not saying it was bad it just wasnt anything different. Also for some reason the games almost seemed as tho the resolution was turned down and the textures were a little jagged almost as if there was no AA at all. Maybe it was just an el cheapo walmart monitor, but on the display the 360 was in it said your watching these games in HD, however if that's what its true HD will look like Im not impressed. As of now Im a little up in the air as what to think about the 360, and Im gonna give it another go once its setup at EB then I'll make my final decision.

Yeah your right i over exagerated a bit it's deffinetly better than buying a new PC. IMO.

You can't beat a nice big screen imo.

Current console games look great, they will only look better on the 360, especially if you have an HD tv.

I just want the games to be good. Gun and Perfect Dark 0 look amazingly fun ^__^.

Yeah you are right about that, if you want next gen graphics the 360 is the way to go instead of buying a new computer without question, unless you have an extra arm and leg to spare.

I'm just curious about the people calling all the games average when they go to play it? Because they're all citing that as the reason not to buy one
Why not wait until they system is out and you've played the games to call them average?

The gameplay in cod2 360 demo played exactly like its pc counterpart played with the exception of obviously using a controller, the controls also seemed easy to manage for the 360.

Resolution is what counts. I don't care if you project a game onto a building. 720p is still 720p, except it's a building-sized blob of ugly.

xbox360 = mass-produced gaming computer from 2003 with a controller and a tv.

wow, just wow; now that you put it into perspective i can understand how you intelligent people bash/hate it !

thankyou for showing me the light, i will go on a long quest, and try and become as intelligent as you, my master.

No, not really, FEAR would look shit on a screen with the biggest resolution you can get if it was set to 0aa/0af and lowest setting graphics. At least the Xbox360 has the power to play any game on its best settings at 640xwhatever or 1980xwhatever ressolution, and you're telling me that you'd rather a normal LCD monitor over a HDTV LCD monitor...b--u--ll--shit.

Funny how the Xbox360 is from 2003...it was to the best of my knowledge that the Xbox360 is better than any current PC hardware. PC users kick up a fuss over console fanboy's ranting that "HALO HAS TEH BESTEST GFX EVA! PFFT HL2!!!" but yet when the new consoles come out that really DO have better graphics than any PC can do, its the PC users that rant (you, specifically).

Which doesn't explain why Resident Evil 4, or Wanda and Collosus (or many other games I could mention), look far better than, say, FEAR running at 1280.

Movies look fine on tvs, and so do video games. It's only on monitors that a low res and frame rate below 60 looks awful.

I left work very tired today and went to my local Walmart to get some Asprin for my dad and Guess what i saw some Little mexican kid Playing the Xbox 360 in the electronics dept. I RUSHED to the controler not even caring after i knocked the little bugger down and there i was Amazed at the brilliance of it. I stood there for a good 15 min. just staring at the screen . They had KING KONG playing in the system . Let me tell you guys The game is BY FAR THE BEST LOOKING GAME I've seen so far as far as visuals go. I played the demo of king kong on my super computer with everything maxed and it did even compare to the 360's graphics , I was in awww:eek:  The guys that are thinking about geting this system i would stop thinking and start preodering:D For many of you guys it might be too late for many retailers are at there second if not third shipments on this system. I dont know what else to say JUST WOW.

Well actually the 360 is currently slower then a top end PC but it is faster then the average hardware a PC gamer has. Also PC LCD screens are HD 1280x720 is lower then a typical monitor resolution of 1280x1024. PC games will always look better then console games because a PC is flexible with upgrades, AA/AF and monitor support.

The 360 has free 4XAA at 720P.

That said I like both platforms. I like action games and platformers on my console and RTS/FPS games on my PC. I do like the option to have games work flawlessly and quickly on my console and not have to buy expensive hardware but still get great graphics.

Oh and everyone rants about how much better their console/pc is. It is just oppinion, nothing more. Some like one, some like the other.
