I'm a little nervous, but for some reason, strangely calm. I should be panicking by now, but I feel rather melancholy tbh. I've done my DEP IFA exam prior to leaving which requires us to be able to do 50 push-ups, 60 curl-ups and run 1.5 miles in 13 minutes (determined by age and gender) and so now that awaits is my huge party prior to leaving.

This is going to be interesting. Can't wait to see how I handle being screamed at in my face by the drill instructor (they are called RDCs in the NAVY) when I finally get there. I should be ok though, since I've lived with my father, who is a former U.S. Marine, for the past 23 years, and let me tell you, that wouldn't be easy for people who don't know him very well.

I'm thinking about double rating into the IT program after A-school, since I have 4 years of IT experience under my belt, but if I like Yeoman (administrative) I'll just stick with that. Here's hoping.

k.

Come back soon.

Don't die.

Remember , if you ever see Godzilla just jump overboard because the navy never wins against him.

Good luck for you and your future endevedours (spell?). Just make sure you stop by here every now and then for progress reports!

**** il miss you

Good luck mate. I'm sure you'll have a blast.

Thank you all for your warm congratulations and farewells, but wait, somethings amiss here.
Where's Samon? He should be here to say, "good riddance". lol I love the way that guy hates me so. It's almost comical.

Indeed, I'll probably like it. Crazy as it sounds, I almost can't wait for boot camp. (almost)
The main reason is because I'd like to experience the NAVY's training simulator "Battle Stations" first hand. Sounds pretty impressive (and realistic) according to a PopSci article I've read on it recently.

Sounds like a good adrenaline rush.

Wow dragon shirts and seamen. That is a very odd mental image.
I've heard so many of the "seaman" jokes from non-NAVY/Army/Marine friends and family lately. At least we sailors aren't called privates and wear blouses. lol

Dude the army is way cooler, judging strictly from TV I assume the Navy is full of gays.

Srsly though, just show the enemy your dragon shirt and they'll get scared.

And don't die, btw.

Bye, I'm sure you will win at navy.

Good luck, Saturos. Navy bootcamp isn't supposed to be too hard compared to other branches, according to a couple of my friends who've been through it. Don't forget to stop by the board once your training's done.

Dont forget your porn! There arn't many women, and I hear they dont allow dragons in the navy, so you'll be a lonely man without your dragon porn.

Watch out for them queers in the shower! Keep your junk hidden At All Times!

GL man. Get as much technical training as you can possibly squeeze out of your career!

lol yeah, that salmon kid gets his panties in a twist pretty easily.

Good luck. There aren't that many people I know who have the courage to do this.

I heard the navy's nothing but unorganized grabasstic pieces of amphibian shit.

I'm gonna miss my dragons. :(

@ Darkseid: Yeah, I had a female friend who was in the NAVY too, she said that the women pretty much train with the guys and do all the same things, the only exceptions being that they don't share the same berthing as the men and their requirements for push-ups and running during PT examinations is roughly about a quarter of that of a male recruit's of the same age. She said it wasn't too bad.

She said that some of the women who couldn't take it though would play sick or pretend they were crazy (cut their wrists) in order to try and get out. All that happened was that they got thrown in the sick bay/psyche ward and had to start over from day one. Not a good thing. lol On that note, I hope I don't get diarreah or anything.

Again, thank you everyone else for your support! :> I think I may have a different outlook on HL2.net from now on. I didn't really expect so many "good lucks".

..In the Navy!
You can sail the seven seas!
In the navy!
some other line I don't know!

Good luck!
Remember to bring lots of lube and condoms.

GOOD LUCK!!

youre gonna need it! how long did you say the training was again?
PROTIP: when i was at the marine corps base, anyone who fidgeted (wiping sweat off, looking around,
scratching, anything) would get completely f*cked over by the PT instructors, run into the
f*cking ground, and then some. SO: when told to stand to attention, STAND VERY, VERY STILL.

i was amazed at how few people on my course couldnt do it, and we all suffered because of it.

but anyway, it ll be fun. good luck!

Obviosuly when called to attention you stand still. If you move its knock it down time for the whole squad.

I thought that was something everyone would do. What the hell.

Don't die painfully.

Best of luck.

On the plus side Terrorists are scared of water so they probably won't try and swim and plant IED's in the water.

WTF?, if they want equality make the ****ers do every bit of work required of the regular male recruit, but at least they aren't pandering to their predictable pussying out sad attempts at bailing.

sigh ...why would they make tasks equal for men and women when clearly men and women are not equal, not physically ..few women are as strong as men so training programs should be adjusted accordingly ..they want equal treatment they're not asking to be treated as men

anyways Saturos good luck, try not to go overboard/taken prisoner

Make sure you don't get in the showers with the gays. We know you wouldn't want that.

Kidding! Good luck!

Navy training camp? That's where they stretch out your bunghole with specialized mechanisms, right?

You should kill some people, probably only chance you'll get to do it legally.

Don't forget to stop by the board once your training's done.
Oh yeah, I wanted to say that if I don't visit the boards in a few months, it's because either

A) I died on base in a terrorist attack/was taken prisoner/fell overboard and drowned, or

B) So much has happened to me in that time span that I forgotten my password, or

C) All of the above

If I do forget, I can just request it be sent to my e-mail though right?

EDIT> Also, if I do die, I hope I can just come back as a zombie. I'll likely be posting more threads about brains though if that happens.

Men are put through what they are for good reason, because being in the armed forces is meant to be hard work and your expected to be able to carry on under certain circumstances that would break any untrained and conditioned persons. War doesn't suddenly get less shit for you just because you may have some ovaries and mammaries.

War isn't a PC feel good exercise, it in itself cannot be adjusted for the individual's needs so why make the training so?.

But its all moot, since women aren't allowed as frontline soldiers, and the way war fighting is going, especially in the navy, you hardly need to be Rambo to kill a couple of hundred people in a go.
