I have been on the boards browsing for a while now, posting here and there. But when I get a reply, nothing happens that is supposed to. Basically I don't recive my notification via E-mail....

I have sent E-mails in, and they have been passed on and around like a hooker, it really does kind of disgust me.

When I first registered here my account was faulty, and eventually was repaired, thank you, but it seems as if you only stopped the leaky pipe and not fixed it. The only functionality of my account is reading and posting, that's it! I can't even delete a mistaken post right after making one. Luckily I can edit them before I look like an idiot.

If my account is working, then where are my E-mails going to? Why did I never recieve a registration confirmation? Are there even website news emails that I am supposed to get?

Seriously, please fix this.....

--Account repair attempt #4 <---for the record

Well the option is right there under "edit", look up top. If we are not supposed to use it, then why does it show up?

Plus it's not only that issue that's bugging me....

Hmm, assuming you dealt with me first then that's once then I passed you onto StarMonkey.who's our technical chimp and that should of been that.

Can you list the problems you're having so we can get a clearer picture of the situation?

If it comes to it I can delete your account completely and then you can just reregister.

Yes, I know that, my point is that I don't think it works for any of us...

On another note, you should of only got one email from us and that's the registration one. Although registrations can screw up from time to time ( on any forum on the internet, I might add ) they can be fixed by an admin ( like yours was ) but you'll still not receive the email.

The only other time you should receive an email from the forums is if you edited your personal options to recieve an email each time someone replies to one of your threads or when you recieve a pm.

As for only being able to read and post. Apart from edit, which you claim you can do, um, that's all you should have access to.

I'm not 100% sure if regular users can delete their own posts.
Can someone check that out ?

Brian, try posting something then try deleting it.

List of Problems:

1. Can't delete my own posts (even if I start them)
2. Not recieving E-Mail reply notifications
3. Not even sure if I am supposed to recieve any other news e-mails from your site?
4. Never got a confirmation E-mail
5. Only happened a few times but still happens, sometimes my new posts will give an error or the submit button will not even do anything at all.

For #3, I a not recieving anything from your site, not even an ad :dozey:

Speak of the devil, #5 just happened to this post, how ironic, had to click "back" 3 times to add this in...

Hokay, I'll post this. If it disappears, we can delete.

EDIT: Nope. Can't delete, D33. I got:

You do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. You do not have permission to access the page that you were trying to. Are you trying to edit someone else's post or trying to access administrative features? Check that you are allowed to perform this action in the Forum Rules.

2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Read the text under it, the entire post gets deleted, you shouldn't be able to since I started it...

Edit
To delete this post, check the box to the left and then click the button to the right.
Note: deleting this post will result in the deletion of the entire thread if this post is the first post in the thread.

At one point mine was the first post of a new thread, and still nothing...

You didn't start this post, or my last one.

You started this thread.

EDIT: So if the post could be deleted, it'd only delete the thread if it was the first post in the thread... Gottit?

Exactly, "first post of the thread" like it says....

Either way I can delete nothing! Even it is the first post of the new thread thet belongs to me.

I'm almost to the point of where I want you all to trash this account, but I am afraid that it will only cause more problems...

The delete button is to delete posts. It will only delete your thread if you delete the first post.

1. Delete function is disabled for users.

2. Munro might of disabled that, I know he's been changing forum email settings because of problems.

3. Nope.

4. You won't, your registration had a rare screwup and I had to manually change your account from "awaiting activation" to "registered".

5. By error if you mean a 4o4 or page cannot be found or any general IE error then that's a small problem we have here at hl2.net called "patheticly inept and annoying hosting", for more information I suggest going to google and typing in "homelan".

So then who is recieving what? Is anyone getting E-mail?

May have been inept hosting, not sure, all I know is it naggs at me a few times and sometimes it wil just sit there, with your blue background, then I lose all functionality of the scroll bar. I go to another web page, i.e. my homepage and it all works fine and dandy again... it beats me, honestly I think that tinkering with my account is what caused it...

Well I'm not 100% up on this but forum email was causing massive problems for the website and generally clogging things up. I don't know what's still enabled and what's disabled.

In the mean time ( while we wait for Munro to see this and provide a more detailed explanation ) I wouldn't worry too much about the whole email thing. It's not as if it's a major factor in browsing forums :)

Correct. RABIES, I must ask you to reduce your signature to 4 lines or less. Thanks.

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I just click "Subscribe to this thread" at the bottom, and then I receive e-mails, and they link me just fine, as long as I cut and paste because hotmail sucks.

You getting the subscribed threads bug of multiple threads when you post in those boards ?
