i realized that even the most moderate, intellectual and progressive Muslims live somewhere in the 18/19th century (ideologically).

i think the documentary was most of part objective.


i think islam is the most despicable religion of all major ones. there's barely any line between state and religion. as a matter of fact all religions are stupid but islam really seems sinister and a completely made up religion for governing people.


i strongly oppose force, but how does one stop such a pervasive religion? listen to the characters interviewed (both progressive and conservative), they are the leading sphere of islam, and they all have in common the spread of islam and islamic law into the west.


i don't know exactly what would i do if muslims in my country will gain power, but i surely won't just leave my GF to get beaten and forced to wear a hijab. over my dead body!

Islam is unique amongst major religions by virtue of also being a legal and political system and a whole way of life that is totally incompatible with wider society as it exists in the West today. It's much harder to reconcile being a Muslim and a Brit/American/whatever than it is to be a Christian and a Brit, or a Hindu and a Brit. To many people, Islam is a cult.
It doesn't matter whether you "know plenty of Muslims", or if Enzorr is a cool guy, all that shit is irrelevant to the fact that Islam as an ideology is a threat to our way of life, and a massively higher percentage of its followers are extremists than any other major religion - not to mention that the rest of them do not tend to speak out against the actions of the extremists in any notable way. There's always a massive shitstorm when someone "offends" Islam, but when Islam offends - or brutalises any other part of the world, we hear only silence. And people actually wonder why Islam has a bad rep?

i believe there is no other group that expresses their opinions in such aggressive manner and in such large numbers. most leading muslims (watch the docu) agree on the same fundamental principles (punishing adultery and other sensitive issues).

i'm not directly saying they are evil, since in reality nothing is black or white. i'm saying that they have an ill view on reality and that they aren't shy of spreading their views (even aggressively).

The reason was that the pro American Iranian monarchy had been overthrown before the war, so the USA wanted a new leader, so the urged Iraq to attack them. Hussein had his own reasons as well, and the two countries have always had religious tensions. In Kuwait as well, the USA used their position to established a friendly autocratic government. Democracy my ass! Directly or by proxy, America has been involved in almost every war in the Middle East in the last half century.

And now both Afghanistan and Iraq are neck deep in shit. There is no happy ending for either of these countries. The people are much worse off than they were before, and you have another generation growing up hating America. The more you take from people, the less they have to lose when they want revenge. For all of the money spent on Iraq, probably more than a trillion dollars now, it would have been more efficient to just pay every Iraqi to buy a satellite tv and a car and start living the American capitlist dream. The only ones that profited from the Iraq war were Haliburton, Israel, and maybe Iran.

So you see it really would be the same if you replaced Islam with any religion for that area.
