quick question....I currently have HL2 on my pc at home....but I have a laptop I want to put it on...but it wouldn't let me register the cdkey...even though I used the same steam info (email/password) Now the question I have is, if I format my hd on my pc, will I be able to install hl2 again? Or will it say that the game is already registered again and not decrypt the files.....anyone know? thanks

Eh? I was able to load HL2 onto my other HD. So you should've been able to decrypt. I have HL2 installed and working on two computers now.

yes, but you could just skip the authentication part...
i entered my serial for the 2nd time (after a format) and it said it was already authenticated... so you could just click on cancel.. don't worry, it still works

Just login to the same account. The installer stupidly assumes you are still doing it for the first time and prompts you to enter the key - ignore it.
