I was pretty sure it was returning. I also heard there would be a traditional sniper rifle too but that could just be a rumor.

well crossbow bolts couldn't really stick you against a wall since they are small. those oversized stakes in painkiller though i can understand. i would just hope for the crossbow bolts to inflict some visible damage to the models. maybe even stick in them. its all possible with the SDK anyway though

My thoughts exactly, too small. That would make it unfun. Howhever, I would enjoy staking some birds and headcrabs with it, and it would be excellent if they stuck to a wall then...

who says it has to be the same crossbow as the first. There's more than one brand of crossbow in this great big world of ours that fire varying sizes of ammo that may or may not have tranq tips.

i'd personally prefer a big arrow pinning crap to walls type crossbow than a little poisony dart crossbow

It definitely fires tranquilizer-tipped arrows. A scientist in the game says so.
It's probably an instant kill for humans because it's meant to be used on big Xen guys, like the Grunts and the Icthyosaur.
An excessive dose of tranquilizers might as well be poison.

Plus, if you knock out an enemy with large amounts of tranqs, what's the difference between dead and unconcious? All those guys we 'killed' in HL1 might have just been napping.

Exactly what I was gonna say so this saves me some typing.

The Ichtyosaur required 3 shots btw, and the scientists said "But I'm not sure it will work on that monster"... so It's not intended for extremely huge targets.

It depends on the size of the final model. If the bolts are large enough, sure.
