If you found!

I'd keep the money and donate the black bag to salvation army.

The chances of finding the original owner would be slim...

Anyway I would probably keep it but hey wouldn't we all.

You have the most fantastic sense of empathy.

Jesus wept, just because $100 doesn't mean much to you doesn't mean that everyone else feels the same way. $100 dollars for me would mean about 4 weeks worth of food...if I had dropped it by accident I'd be quite upset about it and would hope to god that someone handed it in.
Indeed, I also would agree $100 is nothing to scoff at.

That's dinner and a movie. Whoopty friggen do.
Well, if you're paying for friends, maybe.

Either that, or to keep the neighbours at bay, try weeping over the new sports car shouting "Why did I buy this?! I Can't afford it!! :("

Dinner in Boston for two = ~$60+ (If you don't go to some shack.)
Movie = ~$30

No place around here does dinner for $30/person unless it's some crazy place where people have to dress up to go eat. I think anything above $9/$10 is expensive, and $6 to $8 is a good price for dinner.

Also, movies are under $10 per person. Maybe $8 or $9. I don't go to movies that often though.

Prices might just vary based on location though, like cost of living.

Unfortunately drug barons would notice 100 grand missing. If they caught up with you, you could probably kiss your kneecaps goodbye.
Well really this black bag would be in Wales (where I live and don't move from), and so owned by Welsh gansters. Most they would do is call you a 'batty boi' and leg it back to their parent's houses.

Yes, Welsh gansters are chavs.

Massachusetts is the second most expensive state in the union behind CT. We also have the highest "price of living". Not to mention Boston itself.

Find dinner for $6 a person at a decent place, and I'll treat you to it.

This actually happened in Vancouver a few years ago... A jogger was on a run in the park when his dog started sniffing a garbage can... the guy looked in and found a black garbage bag... pretty ordinary for a trash can... anyways, he noticed the odd shape of the bag, opened it up and found $1,000,000 cash. He turned into the cops (he himself was an off duty copper iirc) and eventually got to keep it due to finders keepers.

And for some reason I can't find an article on google...

Ahh, crazy. I never quite understood cost of living differences. Do people living in expensive states just get higher wages or something?

Also for the black bag with $100,000 question, I'm surprised nobody said they'd just leave it there. That's probably what I would do.... And if the $100,000 wasn't visible and you had to open the bag to see it, I wouldn't even have gotten as far as opening the bag.

My old roomate worked for the city cleaning up parks. Some other guys working with him found a bag with a bit under $20 000 cash. They gave it to the police, but they probably pocketed a bunch of it because there was some odd amount of money in the bag rather than a nice even number. It was probably part of a drug deal.

Well as a result of the higher cost of living, we also have the best health care coverage and best public and higher education etc.. Most of the stereotypes and large problems that the United States as a whole has, don't often apply to Massachusetts or CT.

EDIT: And we have JNightshade. Pwnt.

Oh yeah?? Well... Everything's bigger in Texas! Land, egos, meal size to cost ratios...

I really think I would keep it because whoever wanders with a black bag filled with $100,000 in a common street is either extremely mad or a shameful criminal. In either case, I wouldn't feel bad for keeping money that belongs to those type of persons.

If $100000.00 was dropped in a bag on the floor the owners probably diden't give a shit about it to begin with.

Not true at all... in situations like this(though not usually with as much money), it's often drug related and they ditch the money/drugs to recover them at a later time...

But not likely you'd find it in the middle of a floor.

$100,000 in a mysterious black bag? I would give it to the police, either that or just leave it. People could be watching.

I'd probably swipe as many bills as I could and leave the bag

if it was 100 bucks, i might keep it

it its 100,000 bucks, i would give it to the police

Aye, I would do the same.

I mean, come on, if there was a black bag with money laying around, its kinda clear that the person who owned it really didn't care for it.

Keep it.

People who are angry with a choice to keep it for moral reasons- someone carrying 100k in cash in a bag has a very slim reason of doing so for moral reasons in the first place.

if you cant hold on to your money you dont deserve to keep it. i work my ass off for every dime that goes through my checking account. you can bet your bollocks to a barn dance that ill hang onto it. ive lost 20 dollars here and there and i dont freak over it, its my damn fault and i need to be more careful.

so i'd take the money.

Wtf is wrong with you people?! Hand it in to the police?!? Guilty Consience? I'd keep it, for damn sure! 100K! If you saw all that money in 20's, you wouldn't give it away, by the time you handed it in, the bag would only have 20 bucks in it ffs! And you know it! You know your going to regret handing it in, you know you'll eventually need it, like if you lost your job or something...

I'd be afraid to keep it. Someone might decide they want there money back.

They won't know you took it if you don't have it, though... (spend, spend, spend!)

You can't just lay 70K on the counter at a BMW dealer you know...

Yes you can..

Wait a sec.. why would you want to buy a BMW?

You put it into the bank, then use your bank card..

That would be silly. I'm sure the government would like to know where you all-of-a-sudden got 100k from. What I would do is place the 100k is a safe and secret hiding spot(a safe, maybe) and spend a little at a time. You don't want to make yourself too obvious or suspicious.

Some people might be curious where you got it... but the government wouldnt. You could just say a friend gave it to you, and never say who exactly. They couldnt do anything.

Unless someone reports it stolen.

If you spend it on anything big or deposit it, the government will audit you for tax purposes (assuming you dont do anything tax wise for it/don't have an explanation)

Best bet is to keep it safe in a safe at home in cash form. Safe from the government and whoever lost it won't know you have it.

I'd keep it. I'd put $100 back in the bag and go to the police. I'd keep the rest a secret while everyone thinks I'm very generous by giving back a bag with $100 in it :)
