IGN Gives Awards for E3

THey're all a bunch of console geeks. 90% of the games listed there are console games.
 
err well .. i can understand them not running HL2 for a second year running, Gamespy was a big surprise.
 
Those peole don't diss out awards because the games have earned them, they gave best Graphics to "Conker". I mean there were tonnes of games there with better graphics than "Conker". Even DooM 3 for the XBox had better graphics.
 
It's fine - apart from Firing Squad's lameness and Gamespot's pre-E3 fud everyone's been pretty mature about it. I don't know why people are expecting HL2 to get all the E3 award twice in a row.. Let other games get some attention pls...
 
I think this is kina normal...why give HL2 all those awards for the second time? It's not like they showed anything really new either

HL2 dominated last year, this year has been pretty much the same so I can understand where they're coming from. I dunno about Halo2 being best of show though... IMO they showed even less than this year's Valve booth.

They showed you everything you ever wanted to see in a multiplayer game (in realtime I might add, 2 people actually playing the game.)...how could that be less than Valve showing us yet more singleplayer 'clips'
 
HL2 was a runner up for best graphics also, don't know what you are talking about.

And its not becuase Hl2 got the awards last year, its just becuase this year we got 2 videos, woop dee bloody doo 2 videos and no release date... wow..

It was the best graphics in XboX game. The best gaphics in a PC game award went to Full Spectrum Warrior
 
I think lots of people will agree that Conker didn't have the best graphics at the whole show.
Also, awards don't make the game... and I'm sure HL2 will get plenty of awards when it's released.
 
Theres a simple reason that consoles are still on top, they're easy to play. Turn it on, put in the cd, play. On a PC: Turn on, wait for it to boot, install game, configure it, change settings, play. Many gamers are just casual, and dont want to have to go through a bunch of settings to get optimal performance. On a console, everything is done for you. You dont have to go into a config file and set you max framerate or internet connection speed, or swap out FMOD.dll files everytime you want to play a different mod, or troubleshoot problems such as crashing, locking up, or sluggish performance. Games are optimised for the specific console they run on, and 99% of the time they run flawlessly. The worst thing that could happen is that dirt might get on the lens, or a disk might get scratched, which could easily be fixed. Until PC games get to this level of simplicity, or gamers start to learn how to fix problems on a computer, console gaming will remain on top.

i totally agree...so far i'm actually more hyped for rome: total war than hl2...
 
you have to flame IGN. hl2 has lost its "gist"
 
I was actually very excited when I watched the Zelda trailer. Whoopee, I can't wait :D I adored Wind Waker.
 
By the way, the reasoning could be that everyone knows HL2 is great and awesome but since everyone loved it last year, this year we needed to look and award some new games that looked good too. IMO, I was super excited with the new HL videos but I was really excited about the new Zelda game. :D
 
dunno, maybe its status or sumthin. well it has been delayed a long time now, some people think it was awsome last year now its just 'Meh'. personally i can't wait for it :D

Or maybe the reason is that its not the most impressive looking game at E3?

just seems entirely more pluasible than the conspiracy theory BS. some of the Hl2 fanboys have been coming out with.
 
These awards are just opinion. For me the IGN awards do not reflect my opinion (RE4 best tech, Conker best graphics, Halo 2 best of show etc). The Gamespy (HL2: 1, Gameboy DS: 2, PSP: 3...) is something I agree with a little more.
 
You're too upset with these E3 awards. When HL2 is out, it's gonna take away 50 "Game Of The Year" awards again anyway... :)
 
Two games got highly underrated - MGS3 and HL2. Those two games were by far the most impressive of the show and neither of them won anything significant. The entire list is crap.

gamespy's awards were much better... despite the fact they never had zelda in there. nintendo blew everyone out the water at E3 with the DS and zelda, theres not much more to it.

and conker winning best graphics?? there were plenty of games with better graphics, FEAR for one. ign are too bad console feinds!
 
I do agree with there awarding Splinter Cell 3 best graphics on the PC. Just watch the videos if you don't believe me. And Conker's graphics are very very good, even if one just judges by the sheer number of moving objects on the screen at once. The use of fur-shading technology is amazing.
 
most underrated were FEAR, STALKER, HL2. Conkers bad fur day?wha? good game but re4 shoudl have won that award or stalker.
 
yeah, IGN tends to lean to consoles a lot. Screw em, WE know HL2 will pwn all, thats all that matters, eh?

That was taken from their reasoning of why GT4 won the 'Best of PS2: Simulation' category... and I won't even get into how one of the cornerstones of the GT franchise is realism (something completely overlooked by the moron who wrote that)
 
I'm switching to gamespy now coz I see the gaming world exactly like they do. From what the games showed at e3 they put all the games (especially halo 2) exactly where they need to be on the list. IGN has dissapointed me, the nintendo ign editors were the only ones I would see eye to eye with since the n64 days.

Half-Life 2
Zelda
Splinter cell 3
 
RARE is an amazing company and conkers was great, the updated graphics are nice as hell for xbox. I just dont think it should get BEST graphics. I'm glad gamespy didnt rate the games on hype/no hype or popularity but judged the content itself.
