Good showing for Half-Life 2. Great showing for rose-tinted Nintendo fanboyism. No showing at all for World of Warcraft, a game that managed #14 in 2005. Hence, compiling a list of the world's best games evar by using IGN user data is about as effective as building a house out of used Condoms. Except, a house made out of used condoms would be a talking point, whereas this thread is going to composed of replies about obvious flaws and ommisions before it rightfully sinks under. Until revived by some noob in november 2008.
 
It ain't bad at all. All of those games are good and deserve a top 100 spot, but then again I know of a 1000 games that deserve to be rememberd for their pure awsomness.
 
I really don't think the list is that bad, it obviously favors newer games and there are a few that definitely should not be on there but only are due to being newer releases. Glad to see Castlevania: Symphony of the Night at #11, at least it gets it's credit here even though no one talks about it.

The top 10 is pretty solid in my opinion, I still think the best of the Super Nintendo like Super Metroid, Link to the Past, Final Fantasy 3/6, and Chrono Trigger belong in every top 10 games list. As far as Resident Evil 4 being #3, I don't know about that.

Something that baffles me is how in the hell is a game like Tales of Symphonia #85, that game is horrendously bad. It's the most cliche'd, boring, artistically bland game I have ever played in my life.
 
This list seems better than the 2005 one. But, I personally think HL1 should be higher on the list a few places behind HL2, or maybe a few places ahead because without HL1 there would be no HL2. HL1 also gave birth to many mods as well.

Though, Deus Ex should have been put on there somewhere.

I never pay attention to these lists, there always biased. The description for Half-life is ironic too. Placed at 89 and it reads "Possibly one of the greatest games ever". :|
 
The list is bad. Some games are simply to new to be in there and some places really weird.

How the heck did SVR2006 get in there , it's not even the best WWE wrestling game.
 
HL1 should be way ahead of HL2. I'm not sure RE4 should be near #1 either, or God of War.

Also, UT2004 is in there...but I don't see Quake 3 anywhere. Lame.
 
I seen the 1 - 60...didn't see a single Blizzard game.

I then realized how retarded IGN is and why i'm glad i'm not apart of it.

Lol,The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time got #1? Are we shitting ourselves here? I mean, I understnad Chrono Trigger getting that high, seeing as how it was a freaking AWESOME game...but shit, Half-Life deserves higher, Final Fantasy X deserves lower, and hell, I dind't even see Final Fantasy 1...which I feel beats out Golden Eye for the fact that it helped Sony/Nintindo get lots of money :p

#95 Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2.... damn that's harsh too, would deserve a place in top-20 atleast! Well I'm happy atleast it's in the list.
 
i'm inclined to suggest that THPS is a fun game but definitely not worthy of the top 20 :p top 100 maybe i can see
 
I could see SotC but not ICO? I'm also surprised UT2004 made it to the list but not UT.
 
Yeah, it's just me and my mates, THPS2 holds a real special place in our hearts. Freshest game to hold tons of nostalgic value to us. As said, I'm just happy it's on the list. It's still fun to make killer scores in every single level.

i liked it but only because i was like 10 years old and liked every videogame i played

it's really nothing special. final fantasy beats it by a thousand miles.
 
hell no. that game sucked. button-mashing extreme. about soul caliber i mean.

tekken... tekken tag is the only one that deserved top 100. what tekken 5 was doing there, i have no idea.
 
I think it's a pretty good list - there have certainly been far worse.

Incidentally, why do IGN insist on calling Final Fantasy 6, Final Fantasy 3? It's not the dark ages anymore.

I'll take that as a complement ;)

There are obviously games that everyone would like to add, take away, and move around. There's no way Splinter Cell deserves to be with in shooting distance of the top 10 and HL should be higher up, but hey, most of the best games i've played are there.
 
Well the only thing that comes close is James Bond 007 - at 007th place amusingly. :)

However, it does give me a little pleasure that the best game of all time is actually #1. It's very rare that the mob is right.
 
Where is Deus Ex? Suppose it could be worse. Good showing for HL2, but it should be in the top 10. The ahead of MGS being ahead of it makes me want to boot the voters..
RE4 3rd? Please. Fantastic action game but surely such ****ing terrible dialogue would at least knock it back to fifth or something. Whatever Splinter Cell is doing that far in is beyond me.

Hurrah for Chrono Trigger though.

Goldeneye gets my :| of the evening.
