I'm bored, worth trying Eve online trial?

*gives a small nudge, somewhat similar to a bump*

So... Today I killed a pod that was sitting by a gate just for the hell of it. My sec status dropped by 3.25.

lol, where you in 0.4?

Lets just hope the guy had 2 bil worth of implants in :P

I cant play atm, just moved house so im lacking internet :(

EVE is as good as you, and equally as importantly, everyone else in the game makes it.

The markets for example have high prices because..well..someone or some corporation bought out stockpiles and put them back on again with a higher price.

Economics, social conduct etc etc are all 100% controlled by people in-game. The developers and patches just keep the game running. They dont add or take away unless it necessary to the game's stability.

Thing I loved and loathed the most was that reading a skill book - the equivelent of getting a new spell or ability - would take real time. So if the book would take 1 day and 3 hours, you would have to physically wait, logged on and off as it would continue to learn if you were online or not, 1 day and 3 hours before the skill was learnt, ie dinged.

I remember being in my corporation, doing mining work and construction, hauling things around as I had saved up specifially to be the best hauler I could as theyre invaluable, sat waiting for my battleship or cruiser skill I think to ding, so I could buy my favourite ship; the Predator.

Getting that was like my benchmark. I wanted it so bad.

Thing is with EVE skills, if you want a new ship, you cant just buy it. You have to have obtained all the manditory skills for that ship class.
For example, to get your next class of ship, you will have had to learned the previous class's skill and all the skills used by that ship, like afterburners, shields, specific weapon types, scanners, engine, electrics, and then you have to do it all over again before you can even 'qualify' to learn the cruiser skill, which again requires specific knowledge and skills obtained from books as they have a completely different layout to the class you currently have.
So learning THOSE skills can take weeks, and then the cruiser skill ALONE will take you a month. So in reality, it can take almost 2 months in total.

Im pretty sure the game's biggest ships can literally take 4 or 5 months to 'learn' before you purchase them.

Its slow burning, but theres a great sense of achievement.

Joining a corp makes a huge difference, as you can get loans, members help you with mining hauling etc and you get benefits. Its like a real business.

Alot of people in real life have EVE running in teh background of their PCs, as theres alot you can do that is boring but time consuming, that only require a few clicks now and again. For example, mining can be done by targeting 10 asteroids in a belt, firing at them with 10 mining weapons and it automatically fills your cargo hold, so you just sit back until the timer runs down on how long the weapons can fire...or something like that. It can take like 10 minutes, with you just sat there doing nothing but watching.

NO SHIPS HAVE TEN HIGH SLOTS FOR MINING LASERS!!!1

The way skills work in EVE is one thing I love about it. Makes it much more casual friendly in a way, there's no realistic 'level cap' and everyone can progress at the same speed (in theory, depends on learning skills and implants) no matter how active they are. No grindfest needed to improve your character.
As for isk, hell, if you're smart with economics you can make billions in the game without having to fly anything more complex than a shuttle.

More like 4 or 5 years to be honest. But lots to do in the mean time :P

YEARS?!

Youve gotta be kidding me.

Mind you, the last time I played EVE was about 3 years ago so my memory is fuzzy.

NO SHIPS HAVE TEN HIGH SLOTS FOR MINING LASERS!!!1

Like above, I've forgotten.

Just used the first easy number that popped in my head.

Isnt the max like 6 or something on the bigger haulers?

Well max high slots is 8, so some of the battle ships you may be able to fit 8 mining lasers but the problem with that is it makes you a total fag.

If you really want to mine, the best ship to use is a barge :P

Biggest ship in the game is a titan, to be able to fly that even half decently your going to need a hell'a lot of skill points and you would want to make sure you can fly it well if your going to be spending 100billion on a ship.

Are they still rare?

I know some corps were saving before the patch to get it, all the skills required before the new ones arrived etc.

At 100 billion isk, thats...thats a ridiculously high amount. That must be for corp leaders with some seriously deep pockets. Or pirates?

Na they are pretty common, they are bought by alliances who own lots of moons, some of these alliances make that much a month so to them its not a massive deal.

Not so long ago IT and PL had a massive fight, PL lost 4 titans and IT had 13 on the field, its pretty mad stuff. And they are very powerful. Dooms days now do a million damage and you fit xl weapons with a 100% damage bonus. Its just silly.

Okay that sounds pretty lucrative.

And if alliances ae making that much a month, thats even more lucrative.

Kinda glad I left when I did I guess.

Just like WoW.

From what I heard there wasn't even a fight, they just got disconnected when they jumped in, and their ships got raped.

0.9 actually, I fit a thrasher with 7x 280 mm artillery cannons 3x sebos running scan resolution and 2x gyros. Griefing fit, I just waited for a pod with a 2 year old character to autopilot in and then stop. Locked in 1.5 seconds and pop! CCP then proceeded to bend me over a couple times.

Oh lordy, the Goons in EVE lost the majority of their space a couple of nights ago after they failed to pay the upkeep bills. Other major alliances instantly seized the opportunity, claiming dozens of systems, capturing space stations, and destroying several shipyards which were in the process of building Titans, the biggest and most expensive ship in the game.
Biggest shakeup in EVE since BoB got disbanded by a disgruntled director, but this is due to Goon failure rather than infiltration and metagaming.

Just heard about this. The sky is falling for the goons, but they'll come back for sure.

THAT MAKES ME WANT TO PLAY JUST FOR THE POLITICKING.

EVE sounds like the most complicated thing ever..

I've been in it since October, and I still have no ****ing clue what's going on.
