I'm lucky to be alive...

Thanks for your kind words everyone. We've both been to hospitals and we're off work for a few days to let the whiplash set in and cause us excrutiating pain.

We're both gonna be fine.

The car hasn't been recovered yet... The side of the car doesn't seem to be too damaged. The back windows are broken. The actual back end of the car is still in pristine condition...

People have asked "how did you get out of that?" obviously meaning "how did you get out of that alive?", however I'll explain how we managed to escape the wreckage anyway. My girlfriend climbed out of the driver's side window. I'm quite tall and I couldn't fit, so I had to kick the windscreen out and climb through that way. Cut my hand and leg a little in the process, but I got out no problem. Getting out of the ditch was a bit tricky, when we got out of the car there was a lovely 6 inch deep bog we had to walk through. Then we had to climb the deep ditch but again, got out no problem.

Whoa... that's insane.

Glad you and your girlfriend are still alive. :)

Invest in a Honda, they are much more safe. ;) Glad you're okay aswell.

Don't think Hondas have "Anti-Tree-at-60mph" protection.

Damn Chris glad you're alright though. How long do you think before you'd consider driving again?
Also think you'll be getting any compensation for anything?

Holy, you are lucky to be alive.

Glad your doing well.

How long have you been driving, Chris? Was this your car?

I'm curious as I only passed my test in jan. and haven't had a crash yet, people are saying i'm overdue my first smash (nice of them). I've witnessed first-hand the idiots on the roads, driving with no consideration for other peoples' safety. I've had my fair share of near-misses (or is that near-hits) on the road so far. Had to swerve to avoid a tractor blindly pulling onto a rurral (60mph) road I was speeding down. You'd have thought farmers would have more sense.

Ouch, that was lucky. It's a pity there are so many idiotic people in the world.

Wow, youre damn lucky, theres not much left of your car, if I looked at that without knowing the facts I would say that was fatal.

If you both haven't been for a medical checkup yet, definitely go. You can have slow injuries that you dont notice.

Seconded...always go for a check up, you could of ruptured something and not know about it unless they carry out a scan.

Lucky escape dude (glad your safe), I hope there were witnesses enough to identify the other driver and the police track him down.

Good to see you're still alive Chris! Congrats!

Christ, you must be made of steel, or something.

Good to see you alive D:

Glad to see you were both OK.

My friend crashed his car a few years ago although it was caused by him going to fast around a corner. The car rolled over (twice I think) until it was stoped by the hedge. The only injury he got was a small cut on the head from the borken glass.

I've had a few near misses myself. If I crashed my Fiat Seicento it would crunch up like a tin can. :o

Invest in some rocket launchers and attach them to the front of your next car. That'll teach 'em.

Wow, you both were indeed lucky by the looks of it. Glad to hear you're both ok.

It'd be funny if the next day you died from falling down stairs or something....

What?

Don't die or get maimed, chris_d!

You'll mess up that hot bod. of yours. Wait until you're old!!

I've been driving since April. Most people do have a crash in their first year, but nothing's guarenteed. Just treat every journey like it could be your last if you're not paying attention for a split second and keep it in your head that although you think you're the greatest driver in the world, your reactions are still a lot slower than someone who's been driving 10 years.

Christ, you must be made of steel, or something.

It doesn't feel like I'm made of steel :| I have some nasty bruises and whiplash.

I'm driving again on Friday. I'm borrowing a car and I'm driving a few family members down to a wedding. I'm gonna be fine with it, but I'm not sure how they're going to feel about driving with me :p

My insurance company can't do anything, but they've put me in touch with a group called MIB (jokingly the insurance company refers to them as the Men in Black, but it stands for Motor Insurance B... something). They can't claim against a third party for damage to a vehicle without knowing the identity of the third party, but they can claim against the third party (somehow) for personal injury. How it works? I have no idea. But they're sending me a couple of forms.

Wow that's crazy.. you cheat in Life? God mode FTW.

Thats a car?

Jesus mate, that was a lucky avoidence of death...Don't know what I would do without everyones favorite moderator out of the picture.

May the force be with you as you recover

I waited 10 seconds for reinforcements and then I respawned.

Wow, your lucky to escape that crash with nothing major! :O I think you guys were wearing your seatbelts otherwise you guys would be dead. And btw they don't want to tell you but that was an alien you crashed into! You will have no memories of this in 5..4..3..2..1..flash......whats halflife2.net? :cheese:

actually I'd say you were mainly unlucky to meet a dick on the road,

It's funny how people look at this, but had that wanker killed himself a few corners before nobody would be having this conversation.

Some drivers huh.
