I'm starting to worry a little about the September 30 release date

I have total faith in Valve that Half-Life 2 will be an amazing game, but I'm worried about whether or not it will make it for September 30th. I don't want Valve to feel obligated to release the game by that date if they end up having technical problems, such as the AA issues. I would hate to see Valve release the game on September 30th simply so they could live up to their word, even though they may still be putting on finishing touches. Although, that is what patches are for aren't they? :afro:

Yes, but if they are just slacking off and screwing around then (which I have absolutely no idea if thier doing, but IF they are) then I think they should pound out the last bit of work and work ahard but diligently on it, and then after the extreme success of HL2, have Gabe buy everyone at VALVe gold plated teeth, gold plated cars, and gold plated kittens

I wouldn't worry until September 15th comes. if they haven't gone gold, then we can pretty much assume delays.

I rather see that the game is pushed back to fix some serious bugs, then that they rush it out and that you need to download 5 or more patches untill it finally works right..

You lot mentioning patches do realise there won't be any yeah? Steam is there for updates and fixes. There won't be any individual patches to download.

this is one of the things that bothers me. by having steam now we are entirely dependant on the internet. a recent example of why this f*ing sucks is that just last week there was that huge power outage right? i lost power for like 2 days, but then once it came back on there wasent internet for another 2-3 days. what if i had bought HL2 and needed a patch? i couldnt play for 3 days! ok, i guess thats not so bad. but what about playing on a mobile? or at a freinds/vacation where theres no internet? even though it would just be minor inconviences having the patchs as .exe's is always better then depending on the net. just my 2¢.

amazon.com says the release date is oct 30th so i wouldnt hold your breath.

amazon.co.uk however says sept 30th so hold your breath

Valve did clear it up. They expressed confusion when asked about delays on the games, and several times they stressed the September 30th release date. I guess I take back what I said, I have faith in Valve to make it to the September 30th release date.

He was talking about Ray's signature. And the worst case scenario could be even worse than that: Vivendi files for chapter 11 to "reorganize" and then Valve would have to find another Publisher which could take 6 months. OMG! lol
