Incoming: Source

Yes, this mod has vehicles so it must be a BF2 clone. :|

You're right.

It's getting annoying. The second somebody hears "usable vehicles" they automatically think "BF2 CLONE!".

Finally, some people who understand ;)
nice to meet you.

This game is nothing like BF2... it mostly takes place in outdoor, big open environments (save for two city levels).

If anything, this is an Incoming 1 clone ;)

I think the gun looks kinda small really, I mean I can almost make out what is going on in the screen - clearly not the intention. :naughty:

Um, is this in reference to what I said? :O

I was speculating that other people might draw a comparison. Because this looks like the Source engine's most vehicle-focused game, what with planes and so on.
That's all.

Incoming Source obviously isn't be a "clone" of BF2 - they started work on it five years ago! And it sounds far more imaginative than BF2, for a start...

Personally can't wait to see how it turns out :)

Glad to hear :)
We will do net-updates when we have a lot of material.
Basically things like this.

There will probably be another iSource update next week after the team does the first game of Incoming Source. Depends on a lot of things though. We'll keep you guys updated, definitly.

Wow, another great looking one. First Insurgency then this, great :)
Finnaly stuff to look forwards too.

Very nice quality models and map so far. I remember this mod from long ago, I downloaded the two in-game vehicle test videos, it was the only Half-Life 1 mod that had great vehicle coding. The jeep followed the terrain exactly. But then their site dissapeared and I had never found out what happened.

I think it sounds fun... The only thing that is bothering me is the scope to the gun in the screen shot. Does it not look like a bright blue sphere extruding from where the lens would be?

I dunno... I stared at it forever trying to see a normal scope, but it did not happen... Has anyone else felt this way?

Aside from that, it sounds/looks awesome.

No, we will not change the setting and the story for the mod. It'd be alot easier if you would just open your mind and not be so narrow minded.

Why can what happened on Earth not repeat somewhere else?
Thanks.
Plants are not man made, so how would it not repeat on other planets? Its naturally done you idiot.

You focus to much on fantasy.
Idiot my ass. You need a planet exactly the same sice as Earth with the same distance from his star as Earths distance from the sun. The planet also needs a moon that looks exactly like the moon we have. You need a planet that has exactly the same ellements(ex: water), life also has to start the same way as it did on Earth and then you have 0,00000000000000000000000000001% change the animals and plants look (a little) like plants and animals on Earth. If a meteorite didnt hit the Earth 65mlj years ago mamals would be extinct by now. In the history of Earth there have been 21 BIG extictions like this(dinosaur extinction was the last one), if one of those didnt happen life forms on Earth would look a lot different!
Compair life forms from 70mlj(dinosaurs) years ago with life forms we know today, they dont look the same, but they existed on the same planet!

I think alien plants and animals can be found on other planets but they can NEVER look the same as Earth life forms!

Nice ex of a possible alien world(this is not fantasy bullshit):

@bnewsom: the funny thing is, you think you are smart but you are so wrong!

Well when they said dinosuars i kinda invisioned aliens. You guys mean aliens right? (Besides the one you fight). Hopefully you meant aliens that resembled dinosuars. I watched that discovery channel thing, you guys could get some CRAZY good inspiration from that. Maybe you could include a probe type AI vehicle that would provide intel for the humans through thier helmet interface? Possibly include one for the aliens.

The "alien" weapons will be futuristic plasma/cell based weapons.
I would hope so. But human weapons would also have evolved. Probably not into lasers, but you could incorporate a few U.S. military qualifing designs. The XM-8 would probably still be in service. Though it would be the M-8 or the AR-8. Their weas one from Steyr that shot flachetes using a new sabot/propellant design. Or the first pic is an modified AUG from Steyr, that looks cool. Actually i sugest you check out the steyr site, http://www.steyr-mannlicher.com. They got some pretty neat looking stuff. Or check out this page, on it is a hybrid between a 20mm and .50cal sniper/anti-material rifle. http://www.steyr-aug.com/amr.htm.

Anyways, hope it turn out well, i will however strongly urge you to dump the buy system. It tends to screw games over, allowing the winning team to keep on winning.

That is a very nice gun (the attachment).
As for the XM8.. I absolutely hate the gun. Looks like cheap plastic and not a big fan of the design.
Military will be using ballistics, and of course, the Aliens (Altair) will be using cell-based and plasma-based weaponry.

That attachment got me thinking though, thank you for your help and contribution :)
Very much appreciated :)

And about the buy system... I've always liked that method. If we can get it to work right and be atleast somewhat fair, we will probably stick with that. I can guarentee you Incoming will not be class based. Classes have never interested me. Their should never be limits on what the player can do, give them every option. If they want to use a heavy machine gun one game, let them fire away, if they want to snipe, they have the "skills" for it. So I say never limit the player. Although we do cover the medic-type class, but I cannot discuss that at this point.
If worst comes to worst and the buy system is not balanced, we will probably go with the Kit-type method. Although the Buy system is pretty much set in stone.

Thanks for checking out what i posted, i appreciate it.

I am not sure i understand how the buy system is going to work. Will it be like CS where you get X money per kill, or will you have a weight limit, and you can select your weapons but you cant carry more than X amount of weapons and ammo. Or will it be like the specialists mod, a derivative of the previous system.

I think i would be cool if say you could carry 50 lbs of "equipment." Anything count as equipment, so lets say you wanted to cary 10 different guns. You could, but you could only carry enough ammo for one clip. Or you could take one gun and lots of ammo and a medkit/grenades or something.

Seeing that your story still needs some work is not being narrow minded. If anybody is being that I'm afraid that will be you.

Seriously you or someone else needs to change it just a bit. Gamplay shouldn't be affected the background just does not make sense.

Alright, don't even worry about the story.

Halflife2.net didn't post it right.
First, Earth has minimum resources, it is why they go out to get more after they found a planet extremly similiar to earth.
Second, the other race finds the same one.. It's a fight for life, the other race eventually comes to earth to wipe out the rest of the resources and take them and wipe out the humans. ETC.
Full story is not needed until multiplayer is done (when we add the singleplayer afterwards).

So... Humans leave Earth because of minimal resources, travel across space to a similar planet, but the aliens have their eyes on this planet aswell, so blah blah they fight, and then the aliens travel to Earth and wage a war for minimal resources? Seems like it might be a better idea for them to focus on the one planet with all the goodies, instead of the planet that their enemies have just left... it's like attacking an empty grocery store for no reason...

Okay that's better.

Six...to wipe them out so they don't have to deal with them again.
Simple.

This is a heavily vehicle-based modification, focusing on 'Halo-style combat'...
So it may have to face comparisons with BF2, which is currently the king of vehicle-based, emergent warzones.

BF2 and Halo have nothing to do with each other.

Mod looks great.

Simple.

So two worlds just happen to be searching for resources on the same exact planet at the same exact point in time. I'm assuming the aliens then drive the humans off since you say they head back for Earth, at which point they decide to continue to wage war back on Earth. Now you would think waging a war against a whole planet would require a ton of resources as is. And lets not forget they're searching for more resources across the galaxy, so you would think resources would be pretty limited for them. All to take out a planet they have little to nothing to gain from. But they're waging an interplanetary war just so they don't have to deal with us again?! How does that make sense? Especially if they just won over the resource loaded planet and the people of Earth are basically left resourceless with nowhere else to go.

Sorry, but this story sounds way, way too forced. It's like you got all this shit going on and battles for whole planets and whatnot, yet it's all based around a lack of resources, which would make all the other events going on seem pretty tough/impossible/illogical to pull off.

Pretty much my thinking... story doesn't make much sense...

First.
Don't assume.
What you assume is wrong.
Second. Earth is in shatters. It's a mess, their are rebels bombing everyone everywhere for food, shelter, and so forth. Earth is fighting it's own battle. Military is trying to keep it peaceful there, while fighting anohter war on that distant planet against another race.
Earth isn't in the best shape to hold up against an attack which is clearly why they attack earth to get rid of them so they don't have to cross paths again.
Seriously, there is alot to the story that is not posted here or anywhere. The story is not crucial until the singleplayer is made (over a year from now). You guys are digging into something so deep that you know nothing at all about
Talk about what you do know such as the media and the features. We are focusing on multiplayer, no need to worry about what you don't even know about the singleplayer yet.

Heh... I would prefer it if the dinosaur planet was Earth, but Earth several million years ago. Humanity has f**ked up its planet and its future, so now they're travelling back in time to leech the past of resources.

That would make a great tonge-in-cheek plot, and would be topical as well. Humanity fecks up the planet across several different eons. :E

Ah well scrap that idea, the Aliens wouldn't fit in. Fun though!

And why would they kill humans, if they could use us to find new resources (slaves as in hl2), we did it before so we could do it again.

Dont flame, its only a question.

I posted a snippit of the story, as I said in my News Post. I then linked everyone back to that particular part of your webpage, so they could read it themselves. If I posted it incorrectly, I apologize.

Wow this looks very nice. Cant wait!

It's not a problem at all Azlan, you did us a nice favor by posting, I just don't see the need to diagnose a story for a multiplayer-based game and the story for the singleplayer isn't even finalized.
No problem at all.

Indeed. 437 years in the future. We've mastered interplanetary travel but we're still shooting pieces of metal at things with black powder.

It also doesn't make any sense. If you remove the materials in the past how could you have mined them to exhaustion in the present?

I'm just going to defend the story for just a moment.

1. We've been using the firearm as a weapon for hundreds of years and according to recent archaeological discoveries, possibly thousands. Yet we haven't changed this principal of placing explosives behing an object in an isolated tube to propel it and harm someone with it's kinetic energy. We still use it because it is a simple and effective weapon.
2. During WWII the entire world was basically poor and low on resources yet each member of the war were able to pull themselves out of depression and use what they have to create a fighting force.

But to the mod team: It still doesn't make sense to have soldiers over 400 years in the future commonly wielding the same M16s and Berettas we have now. That would be akin to our militaries still utilizing Revolutionary War Era Flintlock pistoles and muskets. (And the American Revolution was only 230 years ago) You better make up some excuse like having the M16 be a rare weapon you picked up from a collector and only finding 5.56 ammo twice in the game which is already a stretch. Or placing it in an alternate dimnsion with alternate histories where development was slowed down and the m16 was intorduced 400 hundred years from now or else it wouldn't make sense.

lol then you have: exoplanets, aliens, dinosaurs, future weapons, modern weapons, future vehicles, timetravel, dimentions, a world war and Earth apocalypse in 1 mod.

:rolling:

What about the HK G11s? They dont use gun powder and they're simple and even more effective than regular guns. And what about rail guns? The idea of magnetic propulsion of a projectile. Sure they havent perfected the technology yet, but its a great idea.

I thought the G11 was just a assault rifle that fired caseless rounds and not a powderless gun. And as for rail-guns IRL they're recoil is ridicoulously high and have to be grounded but they're trying to bypass that.
