WoWOWO thats INSANE OMG WOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Wow. Too bad I probably wouldn't be able to run it. I have a now-obsolete card, although with 256 MB memory. Hmm, I wish tech would move at a slower pace and things I buy wouldn't go outdated a year later :).

Just look at the detail, especially the door and Alyx's jeans and her gun.

That's pretty amazing..I doubt my X800 GTO would run it :(

wow alex looks awesome and very sexy lol ahahah jk

i would love that lol did someone make those and are realeasing them or what because i want them

Check the link in the first post, it's a mod. Be sure to read the info about it.

Looks pretty cool, the mod is 779MB, Think I might try it sometime.

drool man an hr left intil i can play these look friggin awsome

Uhh, aren't these like, ancient news?
And also, I hate them. Makes all the characters look 20 years older. They're stayin' far off my HL2 that's for sure.

I'll give it a spin. I'm about to cut out for bed. This should be ready in the morning.

Looks sweet-all the FakeFactory skin's work fine with zero fps slowdown.

I don't like overly bump mapping textures and making everything dirty which is what a lot of those shots look like.

AMAZING!!! If only my comp would handle it...
See my above post, lol.

I have a very mediocre comp, it runs fine-no problems at all.

You'd rather have it look like a blurry thing-o-ugly-ness?

The whole game is supposed to be dirty, btw. :E

I agree the original versions are surprisingly blurry closeup and they did some good work for some shots. But metal shouldn't look like clay and not everyone should be so wrinkled up.

Can you read the Hazard suit M5 instructions now? You know, the paper Kleiner read when you just got it. I'd like to know what it has to say :)

Yes, apparently in Barney's case "hi-res" is a euphemism for "aging 30 years".

I dislike the new high-res models, they look wierd.

its plays around 30fps on my computer so not bad considering the video card is pci but with this mod the game seems dramatic now lol im not kidding also is it just me or does most of this music sound like its from batman begins

the authors states that all music files are from legal internet sources..

dunno where the music is from but in my opinion it fits in into the game very well.. but as to the high-res textures, i have the feeling that they've forgotten to remake some textures and unfortunately, exactly these ones really catch your eye while playing..

FakeFactory has done an impressive job with these Hi Res packs. It looks a lot better than the original HL2 models and quite easy to implement (install and such). The v2.16 is quite big downloading wise though.

It looks nice apart from the characters faces, why the hell do the women have lip stick?

Um, those are just detail textures.

NOT new models, NOT new textures. Just added material-based detail textures with a high scale value to most .vmts. Go go notepad skillz.

Why valve didn't include detail textures in the original media is beyond me. Unreal 1 had them for goodness sake. Oh well. Now we get 'high res' add-ons like this one, where there's no high res, and it's a bit of an eyesore because they detailed stuff that shouldn't be, and vice versa.

The games looks very nice indeed. Long time between loads, but I'm playing at highest settings (1600x1000 - didn't see a higher resolution?) and I get a very comfortable frame rate. It was all good until I got to Black Mesa East and saw pinups of Alyx, with nipples flying everywhere. What was that? All you young'uns who want a piece of that, download this mod.

...goofballs.

haha yea i found stuff funny in black mesa small details in games roxxx

also look at the book shelf

The enviroment looks good, but the characters, i dont know.

Ok well I'm playing on 2048x1536 with these and they look unbelievable.. there's no reason not to like this high res pack.. if you have the hardware to run it in a high enough resolution that it becomes worthwhile.. Meaining if your playing the regular game in 1028x768, you should probably avoid the high res pack.

It lowers the frame rate but not by as much as you think.. Most stuff looks only a little bit more detailed from far away.. it's when you get up close to something that it looks really great instead of blurring. It makes a HUGE difference.. "Red Letter Day" is a good example because the characters are clearly much more detailed, you can actually read the computer screens.. and the HEV suit looks so great and detailed versus the regular one. Even Eli looks more detailed on the screen. So yeah, rock on.. Only problem I've experienced is a slight lag when a new texture is being loaded.. I have 2 gigz ram but this would probably run optimally on a vid card with 512mb.
