Lately,I have been having trouble falling asleep, even if I am comfortable. I tried listening to music, no luck, I even tried watching The Weather Channel for a while, still nothing.

So HL2.netters with insomnia, tell me,what do you do to fall asleep?

(I don't want to take any kind of pill either.)

I've had a strange bout of insomnia lately due to ruined sleep patterns over the festive period. Oh, and a shit load of drink too.

Fortunately I'm ill at the moment, so two teaspoons of benylin and two lemsip max strengths seem to knock me out like a light. Try that. DRUGS ARE THE ANSWERS LOL.

When I can't sleep, I'm like an old man and I take a melatonin pill. Helps me sleep easily, but sometimes it's restless and I have worse nightmares because of it.

Sometimes I don't want to be bothered with staying awake, and so I take the pill.

I've got really bad insomnia ATM, entirely on account of me getting up too late. I've tried setting the alarm for sometime earlier, but I just switch it off and sleep for another hour or something. I generally have no trouble sleeping when I'm at school, because I get up early (compared to no school) and go to bed late, due to homework and constant procrastinating. And school is just tiring. So yeah, do something that tires you out and/or set the alarm earlier. Unless you're already back at school.

EDIT: And don't drink beer. Appararently it will mess up the quality of your sleep, even though you'll get to sleep faster.

I am back at school and need to wake up at 6 am, I've tried going to bed earlier (The "go to bed early and fall asleep faster is bs) and thats not working, perhaps I'll try "snacking :naughty:"

There are alot of ways to fall asleep:

masturbation
drugs
hold your head between your knees for 5 minutes, then choke yourself preventing the blood from getting to your brain. This is more of a nap solution
Sex, if there isnt anyone around, revert to solution 1.
Relax

Lol at solution 3. And theres always Chloroform....

Don't try to sleep, try to stay awake. This works for me

Like Darkside said, reading and other lower stimuli activities really help. Whatever you do, don't stay on the computer or play games etc etc.

Also I know it's a pain in the ass but getting more cardiovascular exercise during the day really helps you fall asleep at night.

Joking aside, while trying to sleep, concentrate on your breathing. Try to take, steady, slow, relaxed breaths. Constantly work at slowing your breathing, but still within the realm of being comfortable. Helps to slow your pulse and put your mind at ease. I don't know why the **** I'm giving advice on the matter, seeing as how I usually go to bed at 4 AM, but there you have it.

Also, cut down on caffeine. That shit stays active in your body for hours.

Thanks, so far, that seemed most effective, also, when watching the tube, what programs are best, boring shows or comedy/action/suspense?(Watching the Colbert Report doesn't work as well as Modern Marvels (I experimented))

Watch a movie while your sleeping. A movie thats entertaining but has slow parts. For instance Gladiator is a perfect movie for this. It puts me to sleep all the time. It's a great movie, but theres a lot of points where theres no action.

Stay up all night then, when you are tired, go to bed earlier the next day. (Not a good idea to try this on a work day)

Oh thank god, I thought I was all alone in actually enjoying the peace of the small hours.

I say go without sleep for a day or two, if that doesn't fix the insomnia when you eventually go to bed (at a reasonable bed time) then its probably time to see a doctor, or a psychiatrist, some folk apparently loose sleep over personal problems...noobs.
