After viewing the thread about not knowing where hostile planet is, I decided to finally post about what happened to the Insurgency mod.. (www.insmod.net)
I have been waiting for a few weeks now for the site to come back but it hasnt!;( Has the mod died? Have I been under a rock while they went to a new website? Anyone know anything about this?
 
The mod isnt't dead. There was several media releases not to long ago.
 
Lol would be funny if they are dead after all the hyping.

Anyway I dont think they are dead :), the mod looked almoste finished.
 
No, they are not dead. But they are having some site transition issues. They'll be back soon.
 
The mod is most certainly not death, thought they were in closed beta, no ?

am i the only one in the world who doesn't actually care at all about insurgency?
 
He works for DaveL as a Mod in the forums... but still unless Insurgency reminds me a lot of Operation Flashpoint with ultra realism etc... i doubt i'll enjoy it. So i totally agree with him.

It's pretty unavoidable for someone to make that assumption when you bash other mods. If you don't want people to call you a PR lackey, then you probably should keep from making statements like that. Or distance yourself from ND.

For my part, I thougt that Insurgency was fun when I played it in beta at the beginning of the summer (I've since left the testing team because I didn't have enough time to devote to it), even though it doesn't do anything particularly revolutionary for games. When they add light vehicles and make explosives work again (they might have done the second thing- the RPG was pure sex), it should be a lot more entertaining. They also need a dedicated medic class to make things work, I'm not sure if they've already done that though. The slow pacing and realistic gunplay make things much more interesting and chaotic, but at the same time it's easier to come together as a team because if you don't you're guaranteed to get shot.

I heard they were working on a Yugoslav version of Insurgency too, I want to see that more.

The only problem I have with Insurgency is the community. It's filled with pseudo-miltarist morons who spend most of their time orally pleasuring the developers or circklejeriking with forum members of their nationality about their country's military forces. Canada the mightiest nation to ever bestride the world like a Colossus? It's possible on the Insurgency forums.

What the hell are you talking about? I said I'm not interested. Nuclear Dawn wasn't even twiddling around the back of my mind at that point in time. Don't be an ass.

Judging me based on the mods I like is pretty stupid.

Then you're judging them by their horrendous maps, disgusting grammar, and idiot opinions, though.

It just really annoys me that Pajari is biased enough to think that because I'm connected to Nuclear Dawn it somehow affects my mindset and opinions. I am not Dave, and I do not do the things good or bad that Dave does. I've never been anything but fair in every ND-related thread, and I'm getting pretty sick of having to wear a flak jacket because a few people have some kind of bitter grudge against ND for whatever reasons, valid or not.

I didn't say you were a PR shill, I just said that I can see how people easily jump to that conclusion given you're intimate involvement with Nuclear Dawn and your admittedly bellicose mood in this thread. What I think is irrelevant here.

Hehe... no offence but If you don't care about Insurgency you shouldn't have entered this thread to start with... :)

And guys, calm down! :) They are both great games and they both have talented people working on it. If the game doesn't appeal you, maybe you should just ignore it and hold your mouth? Sure you can express yourself but at least try to keep it civilised. I don't see why you are making all the noise...

sheesh fellas.. i was asking a serious question. everyone's hyped about ins, but i've never understood why. it's high quality but it doesn't look that interesting... it's like BF2 or something.
 
For me, 90% of mods are like that. It takes quite a bit to get me excited.

Insugency looks pretty, but its setting isn't my taste, and the playstyle doesn't bite me in the ass yelling "AWESOME".

Nuclear Dawn seems to be putting all of its effort into art, while the gameplay that I've read seems to read like nothing more than a watered-down Natural Selection, with added classes (class systems cause my hair to prematurely grey).

Dystopia was pretty, but the playstyle seemed to be not much beyond Team Fortress.

Lots of other mods bore the pants off of me, because they just want to be the prettiest, rather than do something unique. It's like the situation in high-schools around the world - everybody loves the pretty women, but they have all of the personality of a sock. I'd rather get into a relationship with a lass who looks average, but really connects with me. Of course, the sock-women are good for a quick bang, just like the pretty mods are fun for a few games.
