Hey all,
I found this site, about the people you might meet in forums like these, its all stereotypes ofcourse and that makes it even more funny, plus the caricatures helps on the overall comedy. I have read through all of them and was ever so amused, spotting pieces of me, people I know in real life and online in many of the "flame warriors". :D
Main site by Mike Reed
List of the entire army
:bounce: :rolling:

So: who from this site can you best put into wich one of the classes? And why? :cheese:

ps. I have searched for Mike reed, hutman, redwing amongst others so if this has been posted before well, I couldnt find it. Also, yes I know its old but theres recently been some improvements, and since it appears not to have been posted here before I think its allright.

Ennui

only rouses himself from his torpor to cajole other Warriors to be more interesting - without, of course, ever contributing anything of interest himself. Ennui has limited weaponry at his disposal, but his majestic affectation of boredom provides an effective defense to attacks. When pressed in battle he will announce his intention of moving on to a more stimulating forum, but instead he will generally lurk quietly until the threat passes.

Dead on;)

Man... I remember the first time I saw this.

Great stuff. I'm going to figure out what I am again.

Alot of people on this forum are this one: http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/ideologue.htm

I'm still looking for one that I feel best reflects myself.

So far I think i'm this: http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/tirelessrebutter.htm Part of it anyways. I also like to think... nay, hope, i'm not hated universally.

LOL... Maybe Ennui is Ennui? http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/ennui.htm

LOL! That link is amazing. You emediatly start recognising ppl in those descriptions. Good find :P

Unfortunatly, the amount of Ideologue flamers is growing :P

http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/ideologue.htm

The most common variants of Ideologue are conservative and liberal. Smug and self satisfied in their certitudes, Ideologue's opinions are merely a loose collection of intellectual conceits, and e is genuinely astonished, bewildered and and indignant that his views are not universally embraced as the Truth. He regards the opposing point of view as a form of cognitive dissonance whose only cure is relentless propagandizing and browbeating. The conservative iteration of Ideologue parades himself as a logical, clear thinker, while the liberal version trumpets his higher level of mental, spiritual and social awareness. Troglodyte is the natural ally of conservative Ideologue, and for liberal Ideologue it is Weenie. Ideologue is a fierce, but very predictable Warrior..

lol

On the internet I seem to have diffrent personalities for diffrent people, like if I talk with my real life friends on myspace and get into an argument I'm probably an android and a kung fu master, however on forums with strangers such as this I'm probably an evil clown.

i'm so not Ennui on that site :P someone showed me this a while ago because my unfortunate choice of nick is represented :D

i'm too lazy to look through all of them but that Ideologue isn't too far off D:

Yeah I know what you mean, and I feel the exact same way, but that is the whole engineous concept of stereotypes; showing the essence of alot of peoples ways without exactly describing anyone in particular and only a little part of different personalities.
When I am at work I am different than when at home. When I was younger I was different with my parents than with my friends, however that has changed alot now, however it is probably still a little like that. :)

Lol, i was reading Pinko a couple of members on here immediately came to mind.

LOL No those were mine Stern, yours was in the link which was subtly hidden in the 'Stern anyone?' bit.

ummm ok ...that makes more sense ...but I'm not humourless ;(

Haha, but you are the fatherly figure and the most sensible one on the forum so obviously...

:P

ok then :) thanks now I understand :o ..a lot of these are mostly negative but they do fit some aspects of people's online personas

I do not fit any of them, being totally honest.

I'll find one that fits you. give me a minute.

EDIT: Okay so maybe there are none that fit you. I didn't find any beefcake ones, who tirelessly proclaim how superior they are as physical specimens :-P

http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/lurker.htm
Lurker does not participate in normal forum discourse, but he's out there...watching, reading every message. He is usually quite harmless, and more often than not his silence reflects a natural reticence rather than sinister motives. If a fight breaks out he will quietly observe to avoid revealing his position. Occasionally, however, some mysterious impulse drives him to de-lurk and attack. This totally unexpected assault is universally regarded as an ambush, and other Warriors will turn on him savagely. Lurker seldom sticks around to fight it out, however, and after a brief exchange, he once again slips out of sight.

And it works in real life too...

Hmm, that seems to fit me.
