I've never had a cell phone before (yea, whatever), and I don't actually NEED one now, but having one would be nice. But like I said, I don't NEED one, so besides the phone, what's the difference between the two, judging from the Apple site, they are the exact same besides the phone.. They get the same games, apps, all that bullshit. I just want it for data storage/internet/music/video. But like I said, a cell phone would be nice to have..

So what's the difference?

The iphone has a phone, gps, speaker, and microphone...the iTouch doesn't.

So to listen to music or listen to youtube you must have headphones, you can't do some apps (like the ones that speak translations or listen to music and find the song for you), you can't gps yourself, and of course no calling people.

The ipod touch 2.0 does have speaker, and the volume control buttons on the side, so it's only missing the gps+bluetooth+mic.

My brother was surprised that the Ipod touch he bought didn't have a microphone, and he really wanted it for voice recording. :(

I recommend you get an iPhone, just because it has more features than the touch.

My friend has an ipod Touch with some form of skype on it. He bought a cheap microphone for it and can make calls, but not receive them. If you're not going to use it as a phone all that often this is an option.

edit: I assume he needs to be close to a wireless source though

Get the iPhone if you're going to go with anything. When the iPhone gets big software updates, IIRC iPod Touch users have to pay extra (like $20) to get access to it.

I could totally be off-base with that, and any Touch users want to weigh in?
