It's kind of interesting to see the variety of opinions in this thread. Now I want to emphasize that I'm not "quitting PC gaming" or any such thing, I'm just seeing myself actually having to decide between getting games on a console vs my PC. Action titles and 3rd person shooters and fighters always play better on a console, to me.
However I *was* very surprised to see how well MW2 plays on a console. I got it as a holiday gift from one of my friends on Xbox and I have *never* liked how FPS games control on a console. I think Halo 2, 3, and ODST just feel *wrong* with a controller and it does feel like I'm handicapped. However, somehow Infinity Ward managed to make MW2 feel... ok. I'd still rather have a mouse and keyboard (but the PC version of the game was out of the question since I wanted to play it with friends) but it actually handles pretty well on my console.
I don't think PC gaming will die. My main concern is that PC gaming is becoming consolized, and I can definitely see why. It's just more profitable for companies to do that. Why give away content patches for free, when you can tag it as "DLC" and charge extra for it. There are still great developers who believe in giving gamers great value in their games (Valve is the main company here).
Mods, RTS games, some RPG's, FPS games... these are the reasons PCs are always appealing to me. I had really high hopes that modding in general would blossom over the last couple of years. Sadly, I don't see a lot of developers emphasizing moddability in their games but maybe that will change in the future (NS2, I'm looking at you).
