is inception about to kick ass?

If you dont like the movie you're probably a homo or something hope that helps

yeah I thought it was great

Inception just kicked ass.

And yes, I think it was about to fall.

Probably the best film I've seen at the cinema for a long while.

And of course, fall.

Or was it???

Great thing about Cobb's totem is that it's basically an inception nolan pulled on the audience. Although im leaning towards the it was going to fall camp, but in the grand scheme of things I think it's far more important that Cobb seems to be free of his guilt over being responsible for Mal's death regardless of whether or not he's in limbo

No fall I think
for one reason; were his children not wearing the same exact clothing as they were in all of his memories?

Well

I think a more valid point would be that it seems his kids haven't aged at all, although were never really given a time frame on how long its been since Mal killed herself. I thought since he saw his kids faces it was a sign that he was in fact in the real world, but like I said above, he seems to be free of his guilt and happy with the reality he thinks he's in whether its limbo or not. I wanna say that if it was limbo the top shouldn't even be wobbling, but spinning perfectly, but it was left intentionally ambiguous so who knows!

Stop posting spoilers till I have seen it, thanks.

Stop spoilering the spoilers so Rizzo doesn't have to click the Show Spoiler button to spoil the plot for himself.

ajjarjjgh i need to stay out of this thread

Just got home from it. This movie is more of a masterpiece than anything Nolan has done before it.

The ending was perfect. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the top to fall.. and just as you see it start to wobble.. BLACK! I do agree that if it was limbo, the top should have remained spinning perfectly. Regardless, he got what he wanted in the end either way.

Inception was given a very specific meaning and that isn't it :arms:

There was a collective groan in the cinema I attended when it cut to black. Anyway, given that it's strictly Nolan's unique vision, I'd say the film was unquestionably his masterpiece.

This is the first movie in along time that I actually want to watch in a theater. Too bad it gets here on 30th of July. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Long wait.

I enjoyed it a lot, pretty much cream of the crop and an extremely well-made and thought out psychological action-thriller. That being said, it's still just an action thriller. 9.5/10. Also, fall. There was also a collective groan/laugh when the screen went to black at the end.

I'd have to say fall.

I also expected Levitt to play a more prominent role. I really anticipated his being Dom's confidant, but I guess Page was better suited for it. Meh.

Just got back from seeing hit and i ****ing loved it!!

Does it beat TDK? Yeah i guess it does but its kinda close for me :p neverthelss a ****ing masterpiece and nolan's best movie. I haven't loved a mainstream hollywood blockbuster this much since.............well...umm.....uh...

Did anyone else see the trailer for M Night Shyamalan's new movie Devil at Inception? During the trailer, when it showed "From the mind of M Night Shyamalan", the entire audience laughed. It was awesome.

How so?

The act of inception in the movie is planting an idea in a persons head, by showing us the totem wobble at the end of the movie he places that doubt in your mind. By showing us that you have people going back through the entire movie analyzing and coming up with theories to support they're idea(HEH) of what happened. Did it fall? Did it keep on going? I'd say it was definitely an inception on the audience.

edit: To further elaborate on this, theres a reason that we don't get a title card until the end of the movie. The titular inception doesn't happen until that very last shot.

Inception is an idea planted in a persons head without them having any idea where it comes from. The totem idea was explicitly stated, it's the elephant.

Not exactly

The subject does have an idea where it comes from, they just stated that the subject has to think that they came up with the idea themselves. It has to come up organically, which is what the doubt does to us at the end of the movie. We start forming theories and ideas on whether or not the top fell, but the only reason we do that is because of the doubt that was planted in our head at the end of the movie. That final scene is Nolan's inception on the audience.

Massively interesting article about the last scene of the film here:

No need to warn that there are MASSIVE spoilers in this article.

Dom tells Ariadne the only way he can dream is to use the dream machine. This is when we watch the elevator sequence and we see the memories Dom has locked away in his subconscious. Later in the film Ariadne tells him he needs to confront his guilt and relieve himself of it, something he does in the fourth level when we learn the extent of his guilt. This would imply Dom has reached a new level of consciousness and he is now free to dream once again without torment.

I thought the inability to dream stemmed from the heavy chemical abuse as explained by the scene in mombasa where people come in to dream together because thats the only way they can.

Bit of a stretch but each to their own.

Well look at it this way

The final scene is literally the same inception the Cobb uses on his wife. The spinning top was what put the doubt in her mind and made her realize she was in limbo. The difference in the final scene being that the top wobbles a bit before the screen cuts to black to give us that ambiguity

Indeed, I just don't think it fits the definition of how subtle an inception has to be, it's rather blatent

Yeah I get where you're coming from.

Although I know a few people who because of the ending think the entire movie was a dream or something, so it must've worked to some effect for people to come up with that idea.

Also best part of the movie:

PARADOX

They never said the inability to dream stemmed from the heavy chemical abuse.

Just saw it, one of the best films I have ever seen. The concept and execution can only be described as utter genius.

Good to see people liked it. Im about to head and go see this.

I love being wrong. That movie was ****ing rad, exciting, and fun as balls. And balls are ****ing fun.

Looks like a lot of people are hung up on that ending. People always have high expectations for grand conclusions, but the trip is so much more interesting to me. But anyway, the movie ends in a question with two possible outcomes:
-The top falls, and it was a happy ending for everyone.
-The top doesn't fall, so Leo hasn't woken up from Cillian's dream. But, he's free of his guilt and still with his family, so in a way it is still a happy ending.

The whole movie could not have been a continuous dream, because Leo's top is shown falling over before entering Cillian's dream. It would make no sense even if the whole film was Leo's dream and his subconscious is lying, because that would alienate the audience completely and just be pointless.

I think it didn't really matter if the top fell. I was actually expecting (fearing) the movie would reveal IT WAS ONE BIG DREAM, but it didn't, so that was a plus :p

But anyway, it was enjoyable. Excellent effects, engaging idea, not convoluted but not too simple. Overall one of the best films I've seen in a long while.

Yup, I loved this movie, I think they ended it perfectly. My lady friend really liked it too.

I didnt get the elivator scene. Since there is no gravity obviously the elivator won't fall either. So did the elivator go up because of the pressure of the explosion? I couldn't tell if it was falling or going up.

i couldn't tell the direction either but i think that is inconsequnetial. And yea the elevator moved cos of the pressure of the explosion, at least that was how i took it.

I absolutely loved this movie. Really enjoyed the ending as well.
