Is "shit" a curse word?

yes i ****ing am... :| I have spoken nothing bu the truth for the last few months I have been here lol..

my sixth grade teacher once got mad at one of my friends and went: "why didn't you do your homework boy? huh? huh fucker? huh motherfucker? you think I'm joking with you asshole?"

it was really scary at that time... I tried so hard not to laugh.

There is nothing inheritly evil about a word. I've never really understood hat perception; it's really the way you use words. For example "Thats f***ing awesome!" versus "F*** off you F***ing piece of S***." There are many euphemisms for "curse words" too, such as "darn," "dang it," "crap," or "oh fizhelshniets" (whether that means) . . . are those really any better?

Someone who speaks another language won't know the difference between saying "g** damn it" an "gosh darn it," other than that a pansy said the second. All things considered, I sign off with the intellectually filled phrase . . .

"Go sifelinate yourself!"

It is technically a swearword, but I'm always saying it so i take a 'meh' attitude to it.

Oh, someday you shall. Someday.

I've been around Christian conservative the first 23 years of my life. As far as I can tell, there's nothing morally wrong about cuss words themselves (whether you're Christian or not). I do understand how it's culturally inappropriate in various situations to talk in various ways ("keeping it real"), but to regard words themself as "sinful" (or morally wrong) is just ridiculous in my opinion.

From my experience, by convention - the only arena in which the concept of a 'curse word' has any meaning - "shit" is weaker then "fuck" or "cunt" but stronger than words like "crap" or "twat". An intermediary!

Not like anyone cares in casual situations.

It's not that the words themselves are considered wrong or sinful, it's the way in which they're used. Ideally, Christians are supposed to be the embodiment of love - and cursing at others out of anger or hatred is considered wrong. But besides that, I think the reasons Christians aren't supposed to cuss in general is more for a practical reason than a moral one, Like you said, most swear words considered culturally inappropriate in many situations, and Christians are supposed to "not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." from Ephesians 4:29.

But in reality, many Christians are blatantly hypocritical and self-righteous and probably shouldn't talk at all. I may be one of these people. But anyways, as a more liberal Christian I don't consider swearing to be "unwholesome" in certain contexts. Especially with something so culturally based as language.

I swear all the time in school.. It must just be the US..

Also, I never call my teachers mr or mrs I call them by just their last names, so if I had a teacher called mr smith, Instead of saying "I need help mr smith" like some kind of homo, I'd say "smith, I need some help, this shit if ****ing hard -- like my dick *everyone laughs*"

Yeah, I've noticed outside of the US no one really gives two shits, which is nice.
