Is there a god?

I don't believe in God. I think the that some nut job has written that bible & wenton a spamming spree told his mates a stoy of what happened & they all fink it was sum kind of being. This being has now developed over the years & has magically turned into God.

Aye that was me. Sorry for the inconvieniance!

How can it be for educational and research purposes when there is no proof of a god and no proof of an non-exsistant god?

i am not trying to determine whether there really is a god here thats impossible and we will never ever know whether or not god exists in this life. The aim of my research is put simply, to determine the attitudes held by believers and non believers. I wont go into detail.

I don't think there exists a god, judging by my experiences in most religions it's all coming down to very simple systems appealing to innate human needs and urges that get an emulated satisfaction in religion.

But if there is one or a spiritual reality of some sort, I don't think there's much reason to be bothered with it since it doesn't really change anything in the present. Just get on with your life and let time tell what happens after death.

I believe in a God, if you can call it that, but there's little use trying to understand it. For me, it's more that he set about the rules for a universe to appear (like some crazy programmer-guy), pressed compile, and watched it evolve, pretty much independant of him.

There is a god of some form. And no, its not aliens. Even if aliens created us... who created them? Who created the universe? What made the big bang go into effect anyways if thats how the universe was formed? I mean... if you think about it... you have all this stuff that makes everything, but what made all that stuff? lol

COnfuuuusing. It can't just exist without anything creating it.

How do u know God is a god? afterall what is a god, we made the word up. So what is the real, name if it has one?

Funnily enough, I haven't tried Kirov vodka yet. It's quite difficult to get a hold of.

I believe in some kind of God/higher power for the following reasons:

- Something must have started everything off.
- What Sparta and Raziaar said
- The idea of there being a higher power is a somewhat comforting one. If there is a God, then I'm right. If there isn't any God at all, then it won't matter that I'm wrong and I'm better off with that comforting view anyway?

Terms and conditions are subject to possible change during the next 60 or so years.

I don't subscribe to any real doctrine of faith or religion in particular but I'm not adverse to the possibility of a higher power or some sort of transcendental force.

I'm semi-agnostic(I don't even know what it means OK)

Hmm, i'm not too sure about a God. But i really hope theres an after life... It really scares me that there might not be, and i would just die an cease to exist... everything i'dve lived for...gone... and what scares me the most is that, once i die, i wont be able to be with the one/s i love anymore :(

I don't belive in anything but myself. Makes life much easyier

I'm not really sure, but a higher power in some form probably exists. Not that it would influence or change anything.

heh another one of these threads (the 100th?)
No i do not believe in a higher power that created us and controls everything in the world.
There may however be a higher power that has had some control i.e aliens in the past that we saw as gods, "more life" is a lot more likely than something above life (a god)

Well, on this, I'm undecided.

I'm seriously against organized religion. I've gone to church for a good 5+ years, and until I stopped going, I hated it more and more. You can't do anything without hearing a Bible verse saying that what you said/did was wrong.

I do believe that there might be something more. I mean, the way they explain evolution is retarded.

Yeah organized religion is absolute crap. They make up a bunch of rules that you have to live your life by, and make up a bunch of other things that you have to believe no matter how ridiculous they are. And there's no logic in any of it. Believing a deity exists is fine, but it in no way implies that he wants you to do X and Y and go to Z. It's just so ridiculous and arbitrary.

I've seen that a few times in pics, was it some sort of CGI film?

Agnosticism ftw.

Seriously though, I'd like to think that a god exists, but it just doesn't seem very likely, what with the lack of evidence and all.

Well I think that both sides agree that God isn't going to come down and give me a candybar or anything. So for all practical purposes he has no quantifiable effect on my current reality or my life. As for the afterlife, well that has no relation to the reality I know either.

There are infinite possibilities for abstract things that aren't constrained by reality. God exists, god doesn't exist, I'll live on after death, it all doesn't make any discernable impact and none of them are constrained by reality so they are all simultaneously true.

If you are walking down the street or if you are walking down the street and there's an invisible person watching you, does it make a difference? It doesn't matter if the invisible person is God, or your dead grandmother, or some clown named Binky with a colourful wig on. They are all arbitrarily true and false.

PS People who make the argument that there must be a god to create the universe, well that's just silly, what created god then? If you take objectivity one step further, having a universe or not having a universe or having a giant swiss cheese sandwich is also arbitrary when it's not relative to anything else. The only reason that this universe seems special is that our "consciousness" and self identity is built into the patterns of this universe.
