Is there even proof that Valve is working on ep:3?

Sure, they've said that it will be done and all that, but are you even sure they're doing it right now?

Do I even care?

They're doing what they're doing and we can't do anything about it.

Sigh, not this again. Valve have released concept art for Episode 3 and if you listen to the commentary for Episode 3 it mentions that Episode 3 is already in production, the helicopter battle where you fire it's bombs right back at it was made for Episode 3. Really do you need a valve to confirm they are working on it every week or somethin.

It's just.. been a while. And what, we got one piece of concept art two years ago?

It's time for an official statement about Ep3. Some old piece of concept art and "we are working on it" is not enough anymore. I feel some Duke Nukem Forever vibes.

Or what about HL2 vibes? With the constant delays leading to utter ambiguity as to when the game would come out? And very little word about its development?

I guess you don't know Valve.

IIRC the circumstances that caused DNF to never come out can not possibly apply to Valve.

I can accept it because Valve games are usually well done, but this cannot be taken as a good modus operandi for a reliable software company.

Valve realized that it is unnecessary to release regular content like concept art, information, or screenshots since we're all going to buy the game when they release it anyway.

And that we're not going to boycott it. Well, maybe we are, but we're going to buy it still anyway.

I'm not saying it can, but I don't see why you introduce another game by a different company in your allusion when Valve itself has a history in this area.

there's a steam group for that. what fool thinks that boycotting EP3 will make them release quicker?

The point is not making Valve release Ep3 quicker. That would be silly. The point is: no info on what is going on, after having missed the Christmas 2008 teaser.

People sit up and take notice to a media storm in the months prior to release as opposed to a steady trickle. They're just playing it smart for now, and have no doubt been experimenting madly with what's going into the episode, as well as working on Portal 2 and who knows, maybe even a new IP?

That being said, we need a teaser this year at the very least, preferably within the first half.

It comes out when it comes out. If it bothers you that much then I strongly suggests you find some new hobbies. Valve ALWAYS take ages with these sort of game projects, its because they want to make sure its the best it can be when its released, I for one think its good that they aren't revealing anything about it, adds to the speculation and mystery and overall hype of the product. Before episode 2 was released there were far too many trailers with too many spoilers in them.

But seriously, stropping about it isn't going to bring the game out any quicker, just get over it and do something else.

Compare the EP2 trailer from EP1 to what the end product was like. Almost every scene shown in that trailer is massively different in the final game. HL2's release was even more controversial with many people pissed off that the game was now what was promised. Valve do not want to release any info until they know what the final product is and when they're going to release it. As someone said earlier, a large announcement of EP3 in three months time would be a better marketing campaign to people who aren't that interested in the game. For the people who want to know what Valve are doing; you're more than likely going to buy the game in any case.

yeah I know what you mean, but c'mon, this long is getting increadibly, amazingly, phenomenally etc. ridiculous.;(

This has nothing to do with keeping the fans in the dark. Valve can take ages, I don't care, but some info would be a nice gesture to the fans. By the way, HL1 and HL2 were very good games, but Ep1 and Ep2 were nothing more than short shooters. The rest of Valve catalog is multiplayer games and a nice (but short) puzzle game. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but in my humble opinion Valve is overrated.
You know, other companies make wonderful games and take a different approach to communicating with the waiting fans.

OK, let's close the Episode 3 forum until the game is out. There is not much to talk about.

On the flipside, even though the end products differed it was fun seeing what might have been. The hydra, Alyx dangling from a broken track...I'm glad Valve showed off those things, even if they never made it. Entertaining the thoughts of what might have been, IMO, is preferable to never knowing about them. Would you have rather never heard about the hydra?

What are you, their mother?

I would laugh if the OP was Gabe Newell's mother, secondly I would ask how she felt her son for being so fat and thirdly I would ask her to search for the EP 3 source code in Gabe's rolls of fat.

Every time I see this thread, I want to ask OP one thing.

I believe it's in a quantum state until you actually observe it. He is banging and not banging a dude as we speak. Thus he is banging a dude. Until you see him not doing it. But do you really want to see him banging a dude? So you won't check. Then he will always be banging a dude. And you'll just know. ... ... ...

Here's a post someone made on the Steam forums of Episode 2:

I am out of the office starting Feb. 12th (but on email). For general issues, e-mail [email protected]. For marketing or press issues, e-mail [email protected]. To complain about HL-2 Ep 3 taking too long, email [email protected]. To complain about L4D2 not taking long enough, email [email protected]. To complain about the crafting/lack of crafting in TF2, email [email protected] To compliment the writers of Valve for creating funny out of office replies, email [email protected]. I'll be back in Seattle Feb. 21st.

I think the important thing about that E-mail is that Valve is well aware of what's going on in the community, this would make it obvious that they're working hard on Episode 3. They probably want to avoid releasing media that will never make it in the final game (we've seen it happen before and they probably want to avoid that this time).

What happened to hl2.net's culture of decrees? Creating 'Wah Wah Wah Episode 3' threads is worse than fisting your cat, or posting a G-Man speculation thread.

Stop the ****ing whining.

^Exactly
Lets leave them do the game already. What they need is time of course and lets give it to them. I see no point in pushing them or wanting faster releases - this is the way it is, live with it.

I see a point in wanting faster releases. I see a point in masturbating at the end of a long day. It's all about me in my world, you're lucky I let you live in it too :)

You know, God created water for us not only to drink it, but to swim in it.. hell, even to drown in it. :)
So basicaly it's a mather of point of view. In my world there are no rules nor human rights, and guess what... I rule there. So I would decapitate you for your post. It's really a good thing we don't live there.

They are working on it. It's going to be longer and more epic I guess so it takes a longer amount of time to finish it.
