It was a mistake to buy that 5200.
Hope I get a new computer before fall.

I see many guys trying to upgrade from a ati radeon 9800 to ati radeon x800. That 9800 is like a dream for many people ( for me also ). Why are you guys upgrading to a x800? Are you guys living in the future? :) I mean that card is for like future games. Maybe you guys want the best, its cool but i think its a bit waste of money to buy that card now. I atleast will be happy when i get my ati radeon 9800 pro.
I want high resolutions combined with AA and AF and a decent FPS (45+); I'm a total graphics freak :)

P4 3.0 @ 3.6Ghz
Radeon 9800 XT
2x 512mb Corsair pc3700
320GB Hard drive space
Asus P4P800 Deluxe

and other nice stuff :)

I never go higher then 1024x768 with my old 17 inch monitor. With my 19 inch monitor soon i dont think ill go higher then that also. Maybe somewhere in 1200, but never higher that. But yeah, i quess if you like to play with 1600x1200, and high settings with good fps, its good to buy a x800.

p4 3.0C
Intel 865PERL
160 7200 SATA
2x256 PC3200(DC)
CD/DVD Roms
EVGA 6800GT

I'm waiting for the PCI express version of the NV40 fall refresh, so I can go all out and upgrade everything :) (and maybe run a couple of them NV48's in a dual setup)

I should get a decent game out of it.

AMD 2500+ barton
512mb @ PC2700
200gb HDD
Radeon 9600xt @ 256mb
MSI Moboard.

Sorry for ignoring the questions back on page 2. If you still care it cost me $2600 for the whole thing, and more like $1900 after selling my current p4 3.0 rig. And yes, to the guy with the fx-51, your comp kicks ass.

you'll be needing your very own nuclear power station for that then.

True, but I'd like to have the best at least once in my lifetime. And a big PSU is just part of the cost I guess. Or I may just wait for NV50 before I upgrade...depending on how long this 9800 pro lasts.

lol ull be waiting a long time pal. ur 9800 will take u at least another year, year and a half.

Guess I should be okay with it at this point:

Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
Athlon XP 3200+ (might Oc it eventually)
512 Mushkin PC3200 (will add another 512 most likely)
Radeon 9500 pro (flashed to 9700pro and oc'ed 351/310)

I will live or die by this setup for a while...

P4 3.4 Ghz with HT
2gig of 3200
ati 9800 xt

=D

Yeah, I'm ready. :farmer:

Intel P4 3.0Ghz
1GB of Nanya PC2700 RAM
9800 XT

I think better a question would have been:

"Is HL2 ready for your PC?" :D

My specs:

X800 Pro
1024MB DDR PC3200
IC7-MAX3
2.8 GHZ @ 3.4 GHZ Pentium 4

OHH YEAH!!!

3.0ghz? lol eh dude the 3000+ runs at 2 ghz :bounce:

Plus you'd have 1280mb RAM, if you do the additions correctly ;)

It's impossible to have 1256MB of RAM

1280, yes, 1256.. no :D

Edit: Abom's evil

OOPS SORRY

WOuld 1 gig VS 512mb of ram be much of a difference?

Well, I guess you mean adding 512mb RAM onto your 256mb, right? So that's 768mb against 1280mb... I'd say that the 768 would handle it absolutely fine, but if you really want to be sure, you could get the extra 512 to make it 1280, or could just get another 768 to make it 1024mb, which is pretty much a standard these days in more powerful computers.

1 gig would make a difference definitely for Half Life 2, since even UT2k4 needs a gig.

yeach cuz my mom is going to buy me more ram cuz i got a good reportcard.. and i dotn wanna ask for 200$ worh of ram cuz i feel bad, and its my birthday comeing up and im askign for a prosessor.. yeha im a geek lol

Yeah, I actually do, when my dad bought me a Radeon 9800 pro + 1gig of ram I felt bad because of him spending so much $$

I put acceptably. I don't think my system is good enough to have it running at full:

GeForce FX 5600
Pentium 4 2.0 Ghz
512 MB RAM
160 GB harddrive

I wish valve put more time into optimizing for nvidia cards because the 9600's can run full detail but a 5900 from the benchmarks, cant.

Benchmarks from the stolen build of the game.

The current game will have been optimised alot more on all cards so I wouldnt worry all that much mate. :)

Pentium 4 - 3.00GHz
512 MB RAM
Radeon 9800 - 128MB

it rocks, but seeing as I lived with a Duron 700 for 4 years, it better bloody should do!

Pretty sure he's referring to the official benchmarks given before.. the one saying FX cards were crap for HL2

I voted for Full Detail but I'm not sure 1.8 Ghz is very good :) The rest is fine I think.

P4 3.0E
P4P800-E Deluxe
1Gb PC-3200
Sapphire 9800Pro (gonna flash to XT after I get VGA Silencer Rev. 3)
Maxtor 160GB 7,200RPM 8MB Buffer

The question is not if my PC is ready for HL2, the question is, am I ready for HL2...
