to answer the original question: i hope so.. i mean i know i will be able to run HL2 at medium settings for sure.

a few pple here have assured me that i should be able to run the game at decently high settings.

my current specs:

Athlon XP 2500+
9600 Pro 128mb (waiting for my 9800 Pro 128mb to arrive.. i got it for cheap :E )
512 DDR PC3200 ram @ 400mhz

im still curious about this PC running HL2 at "decently high" settings..whatever that means.. should be interesting :)

AMD Athlon-64 2800+
512MB RAM
Albatron K8X800 Pro-II
Nvidia GeForce 6800-Ultra 256MB

:)

At the moment I have a P4 @ 1.3ghz, 640mb RDRAM, GeForce4 Ti4200

but...

I have ordered a AMD64 3400+, 1024mb DDRRAM, ATI X800 PRO 356mb..

I got a GeForce FX 5500, turn detail down a little and it'll run on 1024x768.
Same. I'm hoping to buy a new AGP mobo and an 800XT before long, though.

Hey guinny how much did you system cost in all. I'm in the market for the same parts as you have and want to know the price range.

Guinny pimps his specs all the time...I guess he should. He has one bad ass computer. Mine is bad ass too right guinny? You and I are AMD 64 FX brothas.

Can't wait for my laptop to come on the 6th...

1.7 GHz Pentium M (rough equivalent of ~3.0 GHz Pentium 4)
Mobile Radeon 9700 Pro
1024 MB of 2700 (333 MHz) DDR Memory
7200 RPM Hard Drive
My trusty 2.1 Creative system

So, yeah, high detail. :D And I'll be able to play it anywhere! :O

I just upgraded my system last month.

AMD 64 3200 cpu
ASUS KV8 mobo
1 gig of PC3200 OZC ram
Audigy Gamer Z soundcard
Radeon 9700 Pro (upgrading to x800 Pro)

I'm buying an x800 the day halflife 2 comes out. :bounce: :E

AMD Athlon 3200+
Ati Radeon 9800 Pro 128
1024 MB Ram
120 GB HD

wow.. alot of pple here seem to have PC's in the 2.5ghz or higher range..hmm..
and the Steam survey thingy says most pple own PC's in the 1.5ghz range.

interesting indeed..

i think mine should be pretty ready to handle hl2..
2500+@3200

Mine's ready...

and my favorite..2 Raptor harddrives...love these (thanks for the recommendations Maximum PC)
All this is water cooled (even the harddrives) ...blew my first power supply when I hooked the system all up, slight miscalculation in the power requirement :p

Pentium 4 3.0ghz 512 L1/1MB L2 w/ 800mhz FSB
1gb DDR3 RAM
....GeForce 4200i :(

New video card and I'm all set.

I think I'm pretty much set for a higher end graphical experience, according to the minimum specs anyway.
Pentium 4 1.8ghz......might overclock to 2.2, depends on whether or not it gets too hot.
512mb RAM
Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9600 Pro.......overclocked
I'll see how it runs on this and upgrade my cpu if I need to :)

am i only one seeing this thread being a 5 page list of computer stats? IMO this should be in the hardware forum.

not tryin to be harsh on that, just speaking my mind.

ACES!

Another post your computer specs thread.

Also yes my computer is ready for half life 2.

AND HAS BEEN SINCE SEPTEMPER LAST YEAR.

P4 3.0 Ghz
768 mb ram (yeah low in the ram dep, I know :( )
Sapphire atlantis Radeon 9800 pro
Audigy 2 platnium

I'm ready - know need the game!

Yeah, 768 MB, how the hell are you managing to run internet explorer?

:| What do you mean, "768 amount of ram, how you running internet explorer"? What kind of ram do you have? If it isn't DDR 2700 or above then okay I understand.

But I have 512 DDR 2700 w/ 9800 Pro playing FarCry @ 1280 x 1024 settings at very high with 2x AA and 2x AF. I get an average of 30-50 FPS and peaking some parts at 60 w/ Vsync enabled. He has a much better proc and a matching 9800 Pro as well, he should do fine. Pshh stop trying to make him feel bad, bastard.

Wow, you are so spectacularly bad at comprehension! Kudos!

I was being sarcastic because he has plenty of ram and he says that he has so little. So no I wasn't trying to make him feel bad at all.

And since you're interested I have 512 MB DDR 3200

:frown: Oh............ should have put sarcasm tags!!! Thanks for making me look like a mean dude. You got 1 gig of that stuff? PM me further details.

Hehe, you're welcome ;)

I will put the sarcasm tags next time :)

The system I have now won't touch the game:)

AMD Thunderbird 1.4
Gigabyte GA-7DXR/AMD 761 chipset
768MB PC2100 DDR
Geforce3

When HL2 comes out I will buy a new system to go along with the game. I want to see if 1GB of ram will run it optimally. I know some games are hitting 600ish MB ram use outside of what Windows XP takes up(up to 256MB) and they aren't even that new or great graphically. Since HL2 will be cutting edge I'm going to see if it needs over 1GB ram, hopefully not though.

i knew it. :borg:

AMD Athlon 2500+
768MB Kingston DDR RAM
ATi Radeon 9800 Pro

I think I'll run it fine.
My friend has about the same specs, except 2GB of RAM, and he's worrying about it, and asking me all the time if I think he can run it fine. It's sad. lol

i cant remember exactly what my specs are.
Far cry runs OK on the high setting, should i be able to play HL2 on high settings?

Intel P4 2.53Ghz CPU
512mb Samsung PC800 RDRAM
Nvidia Geforce4 mx440.

My video card will be upgraded to a 9800 pro before HL2 comes out.

AMD Athlon AX 2500+
Shuttle AK35GT2
512 MB RAM (+512 MB on the way)
9800 Pro

I think nobody can beat my computer. Its so fast right now.

AMD Athlon 900 mghz.
384 mb ram
geforce 4 mx 440.
17 inch monitor CRT ( screen is all yellow, i dont blame it, frickin 5 years old )

Try to beat that! :D

As you can see i dont have the minimum requirements. But lucky for me i will have my new pc soon,

Intel P4 3.0 ghz
1024 mb ram
ati radeon 9800 pro or i have the money, x800.
19 inch monitor CRT

My machine should be able to handle it, but I've been having some pesky VPU recover issues lately. Damn ATi drivers. I downloaded the 4.6 Cats last night, hopefully this will solve my probs.

Specs: AMD 3200XP, 1gig Geil golden dragon RAM running @ 400mhz and a Hercules 9800 Pro 128MB. Could do with a Nvidia 6800 Ultra though but they are expensivo right now ;)

God I hope I'm ready.... I do plan on purchasing a new video card, but other purchases must come first (500W or more PSU I want to pick up, and a cpu fan/heatsink since my current one isn't cooling so well)

AMD Athlon 2500+ XP (Barton Core) @ 1.8GHz [With my upcoming heatsink/fan combo I may OC to 2.2GHz]
1GB PC 2700 RAM
ATI Radeon 9200 @ 128MB [Really hoping to up this to a 9800XT or a x800 in the upcoming months]
